2019 Toyota Avanza gets essential upgrades

Toyota Malaysia has announced the updated version of the Avanza, which is  ready for bookings at showrooms nationwide, starting from RM RM80,888. Also, the Avanza 1.5G variant has been discontinued and superseded by the Avanza 1/5S, and the Avanza 1.5X has been replaced by the 1.5S+ variant.

Toyota’s compact MPV has been updated for its ‘end-of-life’ run with two-tier LED headlights, body-colored trim, fresh foglights, a seamless profile, chrome fixtures, a sharkfin antenna and powered side mirrors. From the rear, a high-mounted brake light and spoiler are added for good measures. There’s now even speed sensitive wipers. Wheel sizes are 15-inch in two designs, standard or dual-tone.

Inside, the 2019 Avanza comes with a dual-tone dashboard color with chrome fixtures and new dark seat fabric with red accents. An air-conditioning with clean air filter is available, as does all kinds of connectivity. The driver looks at a TFT display,  6.75-inch Capacitive Touch Screen with WVGA resolution screen and red-accented meter cluster. There are ample small compartments and USB ports for good use.

Depending on variant, safety features are beefed up with a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (BSM + RCTA) system. All variants get reverse sensors to aid parking and reversing as well as dual SRS airbags. A reverse camera is also standard for the Avanza 1.5S+ and optional for the Avanza 1.5E.

The Avanza continues to utilize a 1.5-liter DOHC with Dual VVT-I and a 4-speed auto transmission. The top Avanza comes with a DVR and  a Roof Mounted 8-inch monitor.

The Avanza 1.5E has a listing price of RM80,888, the 1.5S is RM83,888 and 1.5S+ is RM87,888. Colors offered are Dark Red Mica Metallic, Silver Mica Metallic, White and Black Metallic. All warranty and maintenance are standard.
