In its fourth generation, the Honda CR-V has accumulated some 14,700 units since its March 2013 premiere. The upgraded CR-V is now offered in three versions 2.0-liter 2WD, 2.0-liter AWD and 2.4-liter AWD. New to the line-up is the 2.0-liter 2WD, which shares the same engine as the 2.0-liter AWD (All-wheel Drive) version.
In looks, the 2015 Honda CR-V gets an overall step-up in terms of design and body contour. At the front, the 2-tier front grille with black mesh insert takes precedence, as does the LED DRLs and refreshed bumper. The side of the CR-V is beefed up, thanks to a streamlined silhouette, chrome-accented garnish for the window surrounds and a bold shoulder line across the doors. From the rear, the new bumper with the lower portion in grey, slanted windscreen and shark-fin antenna bring out that contemporary factor of the CR-V.
Honda CR-V: New interior items add a touch of class
Inside, the 2015 Honda CR-V takes on a number of new items such as silver coating and chrome plating finish, smart entry with push start switch, 8-way power seat (driver) and a much larger boot space, which is extendable from 589 liters to 1,146 liters via the one-motion rear seats folded down. Additionally, the top flight version of the CR-V 2.4-liter now boasts a 7-inch display with Navigation and HDMI Connectivity. Standard across the line-up are i-MID display, push start, ECON mode, steering with audio switches and bluetooth hands-free.
Either 2.0-liter i-VTEC or 2.4-liter i-VTEC powerplant, paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission with Honda Logic Control, propels the SUV to an adequate 155 PS at 6,500 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm or 190 PS at 7,000 rpm and 222Nm at 4,400 rpm.
Safety features on the 2015 Honda CR-V have been expanded to include a new technology entitled the Honda LaneWatch and plenty more airbags; 4 on the 2.0-liter versions and up to 6 airbags on the 2.4-liter. The LaneWatch acts as a blind spot detector, which functions to better the driver’s view of the passenger’s side. Standard safety equipment inherited from the previous CR-V consists of the EBD with ABS, VSA, Emergency Stop Signal, Hill Start Assist, Reverse Camera, ISOFIX, Immobilizer, Security alarm and the ACE body structure.
The 2015 Honda CR-V is offered in five colors: Modern Steel Metallic, Taffeta White, Twilight Blue Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl. The 2015 CR-V 2.0-liter 2WD is priced at RM139,800 on-the-road with insurance, while the 2.0-liter AWD and 2.4-liter AWD are RM150,800 and RM169,800, respectively. All prices include a 5-year warranty.
