In Malaysia, the facelifted Kia Optima came out in January 2014 and didn’t receive quite the desired response as the previous version. Naza Kia Malaysia has always put more efforts in their compact cars such as the Rio and Cerato, as well as the SUVs Sportage and Sorento. The Kia Optima, however, remains the top variant in the USA; the Korean marque’s most important market. The updated or 2014 Kia Optima ironically had previously premiered at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

The all-new Kia Optima is expected to take the reigns of the previous edition to continue as a complete family cruise vehicle. It has all of Kia’s current design motifs and signature elements, with a thorough and complete refinement inside and out. At the front, the new Optima has more taut bumpers (front and back), more contoured headlights, moved-in foglights and sharper front aero. fins. The ‘Tiger’ grille is now more compact and has been carried over from the previous version. Larger wheels and a low-sloping silhouette are expected for the newer Optima, along with the signature intake on the front feeder. From the rear, the Optima is expected to feature slimmer, wrapped-round LEDs. Meantime, the extended round-shaped exhausts are a welcome addition to improve the dynamic outlook of the newer version of the Optima.

The 2015 Kia Optima could carry an improved 2.0 CVVL NU engine that’s mated to an automatic transmission with slight improvements to the output, torque, fuel consumption and emissions. Previously, the Optima powers up to 165 PS and generates a torque of 198 Nm. Furthermore, MacPherson Struts with Coil Springs and a rear Multi-Link,as well as a host of safety features are most likely to be maintained in the new Kia Optima’s package. Details and technical information will be available following its world premiere in New York.
