The Chevrolet Malibu leverages knowledge and technology directly from the second-generation Malibu Hybrid Volt. By leveraging technology, Chevrolet is broadening its level of expertise and lessons learned to bring consumers a world-class hybrid.

With an all-new, hybrid powertrain, consisting a new Ecotec 1.8L hybrid optimized direct-injected engine that’s paired to a two-motor electric drive unit, the Malibu Hybrid offers a GM-estimated 19.95 km/liter city drive, with 18.7 km/liter on highway and 19.5 km/liter on a combined cycle, which is unsurpassed in the mid-sized car segment. The Malibu’s powertrain uses a slightly modified drive unit and electric motors used in the current Chevrolet Volt. Although the official EPA estimates have yet to be affirmed, you can count on the Malibu as the most fuel efficient mid-sized sedan.

The Malibu Hybrid variant will come with the standard Chevrolet MyLink Radio, with 7-inch diagonal color touch screen with rear view camera. The system is fully compatible with either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

On the safety features side, the Chevy Malibu comes equipped with the necessary ten airbags, cruise control, push-button start with passive entry, as well as several new-to-Malibu safety technologies, including Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Braking and Low Speed Front Automatic Braking. Teen Driver, available on all Malibu versions, helps support safe driving habits by muting the audio or any device paired with the vehicle when front-seat occupants aren’t wearing their seat belts. Furthermore, it is also the first in-vehicle system in the industry that lets parents view information on how their teenagers drive the Malibu, which can be a teaching tool to reinforce safe driving habits.
