2016 Hyundai Azera The Hyundai Azera has been refreshed and updated with new convenience driving technologies, a more efficient powertrain, modern design and a touch of premium features. The Convenience driving technologies package consists of Smart Cruise Control with Stop/Start capability and Electronic Parking Brake.

Based on Hyundai Fluidic Sculpture design, the 2016 Azera takes up a unique, undulating belt-line that allows for a long, sleek roofline, accented by the third window and wraparound LED taillights. At the front fascia, there’s the winged chrome grille, HID headlights, along with LED fog lights. Over to the profile, the premium sedan features a monoform side and flowing lines that connects to the rear quarter panel. Large diameter multi-spoke wheels, 18-inch or 19-inch, complete the athletic poise of the 2016 Azera. Standard tyre fitments for the Azera include 245/45R18 on 18-inch wheels, and for Limited version, 245/40R19 on 19-inchers.

Interior-wise, the Hyundai Azera continues elegant attributes of its exterior with a nifty center stack and instrument panel to form a dual cockpit. Other highlights include illuminated door sills, an optional panoramic sunroof, 3D Carbon interior accents, 12-way power driver and eight-way front passenger seats, heating for front and rear seats power fold side mirrors, dual a/c switch, 2nd row a/c vents, cooled glove box, hands-free smart trunk, side shades, a powered rear sunshade with manual rear side window shades.

With the introduction of direct injection, Hyundai didn’t have to increase the displacement of the V6 engine in the pursuit of more power. The sophisticated Lambda II 3.3-liter direct injected V6 engine is the heart of the Azera. It produces a best-in-class specific output of 88.8 horsepower per liter, while also boasting the smallest displacement V6 in its class. The powertrain comprises of the six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control.

The engine’s high pressure direct injection system (over 2,200 psi), increases power and torque, while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The system eliminates the need for greater displacement, and increases the compression ratio from 10.4 to 11.5 in the pursuit of greater thermal efficiency and power output. The engine also features all-aluminum construction, four valves per cylinder, piston cooling jets, roller timing chain, CrN Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating on the top ring chamfer and Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (DCVVT). Additionally, a three stage Variable Intake System (VIS) further broadens the engines power curve to improve the vehicle’s off-the-line acceleration and passing performance.

The Azera is fitted with a MacPherson strut front suspension, coil springs and a 24mm front stabilizer bar. The multilink independent rear suspension enables precise geometry for a premium ride while enhancing agility. At the same time, the precision of the advanced front and rear suspension is maximized through Sachs Amplitude Selective Dampers (ASD), allowing tuning flexibility at smaller damper displacements for optimal small bump comfort.
