Peugeot Malaysia (Nasim) has previewed two exciting new models in their current vehicles line-up, the updated Peugeot 208 and 2008. Both fuel efficient vehicles are fitted with the Brand’s proprietary PureTech engine and a host of important updates. The new Peugeot 208 and 2008 is scheduled for its official introduction next month at estimated prices of RM 99k and RM 118K.
Despite a challenging year for the domestic automotive industry this year, Peugeot Malaysia has strived to bring new models and constantly improving their customer and after-sales service to stay relevant in the industry. In addition, new Peugeot dealerships and a technical center have been established in the country to serve customers, as well as upgrades to current facilities. Among the significant accomplishments by Peugeot Malaysia in 2016 are the unveiling of the Peugeo 408 e-THP, beefing up the Peugeot 24-hour Roadside Assistance and introducing the Peugeot Protect, a Total Peace-of-mind auto protection program for owners.
Peugeot Malaysia will introduce up to five new models in 2017, including the Peugeot 3008, 5008, Traveller, the 208 and 2008. The two model currently available for bookings are the sleek 208 PureTech and 2008 PureTech Compact Crossover. Both models are fitted with the famed PureTech powerplant that enables higher output and maximum efficiency. The engine churns an output of 112 PS and torque rated at 205 Nm. On the efficiency portion, fuel consumption is only 4.2l/100km and has an estimated distance of 1,1909 km on a single tank. The PureTech engine is paired to a six-speed auto transmission with Quickshift.
Significant updates made available on the new Peugeot 208 are minimal but relevant for the model’s life cycle. A new signature headlight has been added to the soon-to-be-introduced 208, along with a 7-inch touchscreen, auto start/stop and an array of safety features.
For the 2017 Peugeot 2008, the compact Crossover has been updated with an auto start/stop, a 7-inch touchscreen, chic interior refinements and a slightly larger boot.
Both the Peugeot 208 and 2008 will be packaged with a full 5-year manufacturer’s warranty for the first time. Previously, all Peugeot models come with a 3 + 2 warranty, of which only three years are covered by the manufacturer.
