The Toyota GR Supra only on sale in Malaysia for one year only, and recently Toyota release some new updates for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra. There are a few improvement Toyota has added on to the 2020 Supra, but the biggest update is expected to come from the Supra’s power plant.
The 3L turbocharged inline-6 engine now get a 14% in power increase to a total of 285kW (388PS) of power between 5,800 and 6,500 rpm. The torque figure still remains at 500Nm, but now gets a wider torque band of 1,800 rpm – 5,000 rpm instead of 1,600 rpm to 4,500 rpm. The exhaust has also been tinkered by Toyota engineers which now have a new dual-branch exhaust manifold with 6 ports (instead of two), which improves heat management.
The compression ratio have been changed from 11:1 to 10.2:1 with a newly designed piston. This updated power plant manage to cut down the 0-100 km/h times by 2/10ths of a second, which is now 4.1 from the previous 4.3 seconds.
Apart from the updated power plant, Toyota engineers also added some improvement on to the Supra’s chassis to cope with the added power. The 2020 Supra now gets a new Performance Rod to increase roll resistance and enhanced cornering stability.
Other than that, the Supra now gets red-coloured brake callipers to spice up the looks of the car. As for paint colours, Toyota has dropped the Deep Blue Metallic colour from the line-up, but there are still 7 different colours for customers to choose from.
