2020 Volvo S90 comes with significant updates

Allcarschannel.com has only recently reviewed the Volvo S90 and already there’s a facelifted version for the S90 Sedan/V90 Wagon. Only the Volvo S90 is available in Malaysia, therefore we’ll look at what’s new on the S90.

The Volvo S90 is luxury beyond its realm, outshining the likes of S-Class and 7-Series to many Premium large sedan lovers. The 2020 Volvo S90 has an updated exterior, a mild-hybrid engine and a new, state-of-the-art sound system by Bowers & Wilkins (B&W).

Design for the S90 has always been unique and instantly recognizable as a Volvo. For 2020, Volvo has upgraded on a number of refinements to make the S90 even more appealing, including a new lower front bumper, new foglights and a new spoiler. A range of new exterior colors and wheel options further improve options for personalization.

Wood Blend Seats

Inside, a comprehensively upgraded Bowers & Wilkins audio system introduces an even better in-car sound experience, thanks to new features such as an upgraded amplifier, automatic vehicle noise cancellation and a new ‘Jazz Club’ setting.

Another new feature inside is an Advanced Air Cleaner with a PM 2.5 particle sensor. First developed for the Chinese market and now rolled out globally, it allows drivers to monitor interior air quality via the center screen. If desired, the Advanced Air Cleaner can clean the cabin air of almost all tiny particles within a few minutes.

The third feature is the double USB-C charging points in the rear, replacing the 12-volt outlet. The wireless charging functionality for smartphones, first introduced on the XC40 compact SUV, is now also available across the S90 line-up. Then, there are exclusive tailored wool blend seats and a leather-free interior option for the top trim levels.

Mild-hybrid engine becomes part of the mix

The mild-hybrid engine is a thing these days and Volvo decided to include it in the S90. Having introduced on the XC90 and XC60 SUVs last year, Volvo plans to make the mild hybrid powertrain standard across all ranges. The mild-hybrid with brake-by-wire system offers 15 percent fuel savings and lesser emissions. Together with the Recharge car line of plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars, this means there is now an electrified Volvo model for everyone.
