The newest Isuzu bread and butter variant is into its second generation and consists of some 10 percent locally fitted parts. Built at Isuzu’s plant in Pekan, the newest D-Max takes up a larger body and cargo area. At the front, the sleek fascia houses the chrome-accented grille, rectangle-shaped projector headlights, the bottom grille that exposes the Intercooler and large foglights. The side features redesigned foldable door mirror with integrated turn signal and expanded wheel arches. From the rear, the 2013 Isuzu D-Max gets LED lights and a new rear bumper that incorporates a non-slip upper surface.

Isuzu no longer offers the 3.0-liter engine option for the D-Max. Although the 3.0l engine is unavailable, the 2.5l engine still produces matching output of 136 ps at 3,600 rpm and torque ratings at 320 Nm, between 1,800 rpm and 2,800 rpm. Operation of the 4×4 system has been changed from the previous method which used pushbuttons on the dashboard. The switch from 4×2 to 4×4 High range and vice-versa are now possible at speeds up to 100 km/h, however to engage the Low range the D-Max has to be stopped completely.
