5th-generation Honda CR-V officially rolls out

Honda Malaysia today revealed the updated fifth-generation CR-V with a turbo engine and Honda SENSING suite, for the first time.

At the heart of it all, the CR-V with 1.5-liter VTEC Turbocharged engine is offered in three variants: Premium 2WD, 2WD and 4WD. A 2.0-liter i-VTEC 2WD is also on the cards. Both turbo and non-turbo engines are paired to a CVT transmission.

In addition, Paddle shift is available in all variants to assist drivers in changing gears quickly and precisely. The 4WD system has been improved to allow better agility and a more linear handling.

On the exterior, the CR-V gets a higher ground clearance at 198 mm (2WD)/208 mm (4WD). From the new wing face with LED headlights, foglights and DRLs to the LED rearlights, the 2017 CR-V has a refreshing overall identity. Adding to the exterior package are the tailgate spoiler and dual-tone wheels.

Inside, the 2017 CR-V has a larger cabin, 250 mm extra compared to the previous CR-V, and a cargo space of up to 1,084 liters. The huge cargo space is complemented by the Programmable Power Tailgate. Other interior highlights include 7-inch Display Audio, dual-zone a/c, electronic park brake with auto brake hold, large compartment on the center console and combi leather seats, with an 8-way driver adjustable seat and 4-way front passenger adjustable seat.

For the first time,  the CR-V comes with Honda SENSING suite, which comprises
Driver Cruising Aid ( Adaptive Cruise Control and Low-Speed Follow), Frontal Collision Deterrence, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Side Collision Deterrence, Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Road Departure Mitigation and Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS).

In addition to Honda SENSING, the new CR-V offers a host of safety features that are standard in all variants including 6 airbags and  TFT driver attention monitor, as well as VSA with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Multi-Angle Rearview Camera. Other notable new features are walk away auto lock, eight sensors, Honda LaneWatch Camera (top variant), Auto High Beam (top variant) and Active Cornering Light (top variant).

The latest CR-V has been classified as an EEV, which essentially means the overall price has been brought down to offer more for less for customers.  The Honda CR-V 2.0l 2WD is priced at RM142,400, 1.5l Turbocharged 2WD at RM155,700, 1.5l Turbocharged 4WD at RM161,600 and 1.5l Turbocharged Premium 2WD at RM167,700. There are five colors, including new hues Dark Olive Metallic, White Orchid Pearl and Obsidian Blue Pearl.

To accessorize the CR-V, try the available Utility Package (RM1,165), Urban Package (RM1,790) or Aero Package ( RM5,900 and RM5,700).
