All new Kia Rio completes Naza Kia’s core line-up
As of today, Naza Kia now has a complete line-up consisting the all-new Kia Rio, the immensely popular Kia Forte, Kia Optima K5, Kia Sportage compact Crossover, Kia Sorento large SUV, and more distantly, the Ria MPV.
The all-new Kia Rio takes a leap of faith from its former not-so-attractive appearance into the obvious Peter Schreyer,Kia President and Chief Designer, vibrant inputs and urban characteristics. Design-wise, the new Rio is depicted as an urban vehicle with flowing, dynamic attributes much like its higher siblings. With improved cd ratings, class leading safety features, advanced interior features and amenities, abd generous cabin and luggage space, the new Rio is set for a triumphant debut in the domestic B-segment automotive market.

View from the front, Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille is an instantly recognizable element on the new Rio. There are essentially two variants of the new Rio; the 1.4EX and 1.4SX, both have projection-typed headlights and LED daytime running lights. The 1.4SX variant does have an additional element in the form of low-mounted fog lamps for better vision during night driving. But that’s no all, the new Rio’s headlight system also provides Static Bending Light and Escort Light for directional lighting and added visibility; these features are normally reserved for premium variants or higher segments. From the side, the new Rio has outstanding shoulder lines and a silhouette that portray an aerodynamically savvy compact car. Boot space allows up to 288 liters, although the 60:40 split folding rear seat probably increases boot space capacity.
Beneath the hood, the new Rio has a Gamma 1.4 MPI CVVT (continuous variable valve timing) petrol engine. The Gamma powerplant is said to provide more horsepower compared to the old platform, while the 4-speed “manumatic” auto transmission plays a integral role in balancing the output and efficiency ratios. The powertrain combines for 80kW/109ps and 137 Nm of torque and puts the new Rio at the top of its food chain.
Dual disc brakes, front and rear, keep the all-new Rio at braking distance of 36.2m. At the same time, MacPherson struts at the front and torsion beam axle plant the car to the ground. The Motor-Driven Power Steering, first for a Kia compact variant, assists to save fuel by as much as 3% as it is an electrically operated system rather than a conventional hydraulics-typed system. Naza Kia also stated that the company plans to bring forth six, seven facelifted and new variants for the year.
The all new Kia Rio comes in five colors: Electric Blue, Deep Blue, Signal Red, Clear White and Bright Silver. Kia’s newest compact variant runs for RM73,888 EX version and RM79,888 SX version, all stated prices are on-the-road with insurance, along with a 5-year unlimited warranty.
