|The annual Toyota Classics which represents a third of UMW Toyota Motor’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities is scheduled for 12 November this season at Petronas Philharmonic Concert Hall, KLCC.|
The Toyota Classics now in its 22nd edition is a joint effort between Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan and UMW Toyota Motor to pursue customary CSR obligations, along with philanthropic sentiments. The Classics have been held since 1990, except for the years 1995 and 2004. Along with the Toyota Eco Youth and Traffic Tots, the Classic form a CSR trinity within the UMW Toyota Motor organization.
The Toyota Classics program with its core theme “A World of Harmony, A Gift of Charity” represents the philanthropic pillar of UMW Toyota Motor’s CSR initiatives. The program is believed to be among the longest running classical music fundraisers in the country, having been held for over 20 years, raising a total of close to RM7 million and benefitting more than 50 charitable organizations and NGOs. This season, three organizations have been selected to receive the targeted donations of RM 335,000, these organizations are; the Society for the Advancement of the Blind, the Malaysian Federation of the Deaf and the Malaysian Liver Foundation.
This time around, the Classics features the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice under the baton of renowned conductor Maestro Charles Olivieri Munroe with soloist Manuel Blanco on trumpet. The North Czech ensemble can trace its roots back to 1831 and is the premier provider of “Spa” music in Teplice during the summer.
The plays or pieces to be performed at this year’s Classics are; La Clemenza di Tito by Mozart, Intermezzo from Opera Goyecas by Enrique Granados, the masterpiece ‘A MidSummer Night’s Dream’ by Mendelssohn, the Secret by Bedrich Smetana, Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla and Dances of Galanta by Zoltan Kodaly.
The Petronas Philharmonic Concert hall once again play host to the Toyota Classics on 12 November, with VIP patrons like DYMM Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and YAB Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali gracing the event.
The Toyota Classics tickets go on sale from today at the Petronas Philharmonic and are valid at prices from RM60 – 220.
