Volkswagen Golf fresh exterior & interior

On the surface, the Golf is instilled a lightweight design that has lost almost 100 kilograms from its previous edition. There aren’t too many indifference in terms of exterior motifs between the Mark VII and the Mark VII, except for the hook-shaped LED daytime running lights which are part of the recognizable Golf headlights, simplified 5-spoke rims on 16″ wheels, new rear combination lights and a skid plate with miniscule fog lights at the bottom of the rear bumper. Exterior structure of the car sees the front wheel being forwarded 43 mm to the front, which meant a shorter overhang, a longer bonnet and a shifted-to-the-rear passenger compartment towards the wheel arch, termed ‘cab backward’. The side has a unique C-pillar that resembles the drawn string of a bow. The new model’s overall height has been reduced 28mm at 1,799mm, and the 13mm wider body gives a more pronounced impression when viewed from the rear. Significantly, the Golf’ss wheelbase has extended by 59mm to 2,637mm.
Interior-wise, the shifted-to-the rear passenger compartment means that the seat position is pushed back by 20mm, while the space between the brake and accelerator pedals has gone up by 16mm. Other interior areas that see significant measurement changes are; gearbox controls by 20mm which is now easily reachable, cabin space is 56mm longer at 4,255mm and boot space has a bigger capacity of up to 380 liters, up by 30l. The driver-oriented center console’s middle section now incorporates a switch for the hazard warning lights and takes on the 5.8-inch “Composition Media” color touchscreen infotainment system. Needless to say, the 8-speaker infotainment system is compatible with USB, AUX, Bluetooth devices and has an SD card slot for navigation and multimedia needs.
Located beneath the infotainment module are the well laid-out controls for climate control. To the right of the driver are the buttons for the new electronic parking brake and its Auto Hold function. large storage compartment hidden under the center armrest that can be adjusted by up to 100mm in length and five stages in height. Further, electric window switches and driver’s electric mirror adjustment are conveniently placed on doors’ armrests and the driver’s door handle.
Volkswagen Golf powerplant
The neu Volkswagen Golf is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged (single scroll turbine) TSI engine with Blue Motion Technologies. The powerplant, combined with a 7-speed DSG transmission, enables the Golf to sprint 0 – 100km/h in 8.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 212 km/h. In power output and torque terms, the new Golf 1.4TSI powerplant churns 140PS and 250 Nm; that’s 20PS down and 10 Nm up from the previous Volkswagen Golf 1.4L.
Thanks to Blue Motion technologies, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are kept low at an astounding 5-liter per 100km and just 116g/km. This figures are attributed to the engine’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) design language, new mounting position and 12-degree rear inclination. These technical aspects translate to a standardized exhaust line, drive shafts and gearbox mounting position.
A recipient of the Euro NCAP 5-star, the new Golf’s safety features consist of; 7 airbags, ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program), Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, electronic XDS differential lock, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and Lane Assist; check with your local Volkswagen dealer for further safety equipment listings.
