AAston Martin Kuala Lumpur, under the stewardship of Wearnes Quest, has introduced the DBS Superleggera for the Super Luxury segment of Malaysia. The DBS is a revival of an iconic nameplate that first appeared in 1967, while Superleggera pays homage to the innovative lightweight construction methods pioneered by Italian coachbuilder, Touring.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera replaces the Vanquish S as the Super GT flagship in Aston Martin’s ranks. As the new flagship, the numbers are certainly impressive: 725PS at 6500 rpm, 900Nm between 1800-5000rpm, 340km/h top speed and 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. All the impressive numbers are made possible by the impeccable 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, paired a new rear-mounted ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The transmission comes loaded with limited-slip differential and torque vectoring to enable fast acceleration and extreme handling.
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera: Designed to be Iconic
At a glance, you’d simply recognized it as an Aston Martin, if you’re a car buff. But look closer, you’ll discover the intricacies of the finely-sculpted carbon fiber body and masculine, individualistic styling that’s unmistakably an Aston Martin Icon.
The front-end of the Superleggera takes up a familiar hexagonal grille, which sets the tone for the mighty 715bhp Super car. When it comes to aerodynamics, the DBS Superleggera features the curlicue and Aeroblade from the DB11, and an F1-inspired double diffuser to give a total downforce of 180 kg; the highest ever for an Aston Martin. Completing the flagship is a choice of two alloy wheel designs: the standard ‘Y’ Spoke Forged Wheel and the Lightweight Twin Spoke Forged wheel. Both are 21-inch in diameter and fitted with Pirelli tyres, developed specifically for DBS Superleggera.
Interior-wise, the DBS Superleggera is both functional and super premium thanks to soft-supple aromatic leather or Alcantara upholstery, Sports Plus seats. The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system has DAB plus Bluetooth audio, streaming and connectivity. All the in-car infotainment systems use a central LCD screen, controlled via a central dial.
An optimized lightweight bonded aluminium chassis and well-balanced weight distribution enable the super car to go full throttle and maximize performance at any given time or track. Detailed tuning of the V12 together with a new exhaust strategy with active valves and quad tail pipes ensures DBS Superleggera has a commanding and powerful sound character, particularly in the more aggressive dynamic modes, while retaining a level of refinement and civility that compliments its role as the consummate Super GT. The drive modes available are: GT, Sport and Sport Plus.
Suspensions at the front consist of forged double wishbones, while the rear is decked with a top-notch multi-link system. It works alongside the adaptive damping to suit mot road or track conditions.
When it comes to braking, the DBS Superleggera relies on front and rear ventilated ceramic brake discs, which measure 410mm front and 360mm rear.
Safety is paramount for a flagship Super car
The DBS Superleggera features a generous level of standard equipment, including keyless entry, tyre pressure monitoring system and a 360-degree camera with Parking Distance Display and Park Assist.
