Audi has just announced an Allroad version of its popular A4 model. The Audi A4 Allroad incorporates functional practicality with premium offroad design, standard quattro all-wheel drive, adaptive dampers, and increased ground clearance compared to the sedan.
From the newly redesigned five-link suspension with standard adaptive dampers to the new standard quattro all-wheel drive with ultra technology, the 2017 A4 Allroad sets a new benchmark for the luxury wagon segment. From the front, vertical chrome slats on the Singleframe grille to emphasize the vehicle’s increased ground clearance while more powerful wheel arches add to the vehicle’s offroad character. Offroad characteristics reserved for the A4 Allroad include dual pane glass for the front side windows (for the first time), xenon plus headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillights with dynamic turn signals, enhanced underbody protection, wheel arches with cladding, raised aluminum roof rails, side sills with matte silver inserts and 18-inch 5-V-spoke design wheels.
The interior features a horizontally oriented architecture to create a greater feeling of spaciousness while infotainment features such as the large MMI display and available Audi virtual cockpit on a large, 12.3-inch touchscreen help create a driver-centric space. A newly designed infotainment system includes standard Audi smartphone interface, which provides CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Other highlights include steering with paddle shifters, 19-speaker 755 watt Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound Sound System, panoramic sunroof, leather seating surfaces, 8-way power front seats with 4-way power lumbar support for driver, and three-zone automatic climate control.
The new A4 Allroad also features a redesigned 2.0-liter TFSI engine and, for the first time, a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission that melds efficiency with dynamic shifting for an overall sportier drive. Output and torque is rated 252 hp and 370 Nm(273 lb-ft).
An increased ground clearance of 34 mm over the A4 sedan, achieved through a taller suspension and higher profile tyres, makes the A4 Allroad a capable choice for offroad terrain. The allroad also features a new version of Audi drive select with expanded functionality. In addition to comfort, auto, dynamic, and individual modes, the allroad now includes an offroad mode.
As for driver’s assistance systems, the A4 Allroad comes with a wave of standard equipment such as Pre sense (front and rear), Traffic sign recognitio, Active lane assist, Audi side assist with Exit assist, Rear cross traffic assist, Turn assist, Hill Descent control, Adaptive cruise control with stop & go and traffic jam assist.
The Audi A4 Allroad is set to roll-out in the Fall with a starting price of $44,000.
