Bentley Motors will compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for the first time on 24 June 2018 with the award-winning Bentayga.

The 600 bhp, W12-powered Bentayga will tackle the famous 12.42-mile Colorado Springs hill climb with record-breaking ambitions, aiming to navigate the 156 corners of ascending asphalt quicker than any SUV before.

A car is being prepared for the competition by Bentley’s motorsport department at the company’s headquarters in Crewe, England.

Bentley’s Director of Motorsport Brian Gush commented. “Since its launch, the Bentayga has set the luxury SUV benchmark with its unique combination of bespoke British craftsmanship, performance and grand touring ability. We hope to set another benchmark at the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb by conquering the most demanding mountain road course in the world.”

Deploying 900 Nm of torque through intelligent all-wheel-drive and state-of-the-art air suspension together with Bentley’s pioneering 48-volt active anti-roll system, the Bentayga delivers extraordinary dynamic ability without compromising refinement.

About the Bentley Bentayga

Having debut in February last year in Malaysia, the Bentayga SUV is pure Bentley. Sculptural with an elegant, timeless execution, it perfectly balances athleticism with confidence. From the four round LED headlights and large matrix grille, to the distinctive power line and muscular haunches, the Bentley DNA is apparent throughout.

Bentayga’s wheel arches, fenders and bonnet deliver a balance between sportiness and SUV presence. The ultra-sharp Bentley power line and muscular rear haunch display a taut tension in side profile, as part of the largest single-piece aluminium pressing in the automotive world.

Trademark Bentley features such as the large matrix grille and B-shaped wing vents afford the Bentayga a modern, dynamic elegance. The grille is flanked by four distinctive floating all-LED headlights, which are housed within the seamless superformed aluminium front fenders. There are the discreet headlight washers contained within the outer light’s body-colored center, further illustrating the marque’s attention to details. From the rear, within the segmented lights, a new ‘B’-shaped illumination graphic is incorporated that affords the Bentayga an instantly recognizable and striking night-time signature. Finally, the Bentley SUV takes on wheel sizes ranging from 20- to 22-inch.

The Bentley Bentayga boasts the world’s finest automotive cabin, with unrivalled levels of precision. Step inside the new Bentayga and you find the finest automotive interior in the world, with handcrafted wood and leather throughout. The dashboard takes the iconic Bentley ‘wing’ design as its inspiration, with the beautifully finished surfaces flowing gracefully from door to door over the top of the instrument binnacles, down under the center console and back up around the passenger side fascia and foot well. Interior highlights include hand-selected veneers, dashboard with polished and handcrafted with metal elements, Bentley’s trademark knurling on gearknob and featured elements, 22-way adjustable front seats with massage system, 18-way adjustable rear seats with massage functions and footrests, rear console box for small items, and a hands-free tailgate.

A new twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine is at the heart of the new Bentayga. The mighty 12-cylinder unit combines efficiency and refinement with ultra-luxurious levels of power and torque. With 608 PS (600 bhp / 447kW) and 900 Nm, the Bentley SUV delivers a 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301 km/h.
