|BMW Malaysia today announced the locally-assembled 316i, the fourth petrol version 3 Series after the 320i, 328i and 335i. The BMW 316i is the sixth variant of BMW M’sia’s CKD (Completely-Knocked Down) program in the country.|
Compared to the former base model BMW 320i, the 316i inherits all the recognizable exterior motifs of the 3 Series to the fullest. The unmistakable kidney grille and twin-ring headlights distinguish the front end of a premium automobile, and the sharp lines that demarcate the car’s surfaces imminently depict aerodynamically-savvy proportions.
On the inside, the layering effect is the general theme of the Leather Dakota Black interior and upholstery of the BMW 316i. The incorporated BMW ConnectedDrive package includes a host of features and equipment for driver and passengers, such as; BMW Live, BMW TeleServices on the 6.5” LCD panel, iDrive controller, and in-car connectivity like USB & Bluetooth.
The BMW 316i is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder twinturbo petrol engine that’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain pushes an output of 135 hp and up to 220 Nm of torque. Top speed and 0-100 km/h dash are accorded 210 km/h and 9.2 seconds.
Thanks to a supposedly 50:50 weight balance, rigid body structure and the driving experience control which offers Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro drive modes; the BMW 316i enables the driver to experience exemplary driving dynamics, as well as efficient and safety-derived driving options.
Dr. Gerhard Pils, CEO of BMW Malaysia, commented, “Today, we introduce yet another BMW for Malaysia that is built right here in Malaysia – the all New BMW 316i. As an addition to our strong portfolio of locally-assembled premium vehicles, the new BMW 316i further underlines our commitment to this country which has been our home for the last ten years.”
The BMW 316i retails for RM 209, 800.00, minus insurance and subjected to approval. Color shades available are: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, Glacier Silver and Mineral Grey.
