BMW 520d Sport is main highlight at 2015 Malaysian Open

2015 BMW 520d Sport front At the annual Malaysian Open Tennis Tournament, BMW Malaysia, as primary sponsors, once again took the opportunity to unveil one of its newer variants for the year. This time, it’s the BMW 520d Sport; 520d being the indicative derivative of a diesel-powered vehicle.

The BMW 520d Sport features the familiar long wheelbase, short overhang and coupé-like flowing roofline that are normally profound on the 5 Series (F10) variant. For the 2015 BMW 520d Sport, the M exterior package has been included to add further aggression and dynamism to the package. Adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant light up the path for the 520d Sport. Lastly, the included 18-inch double-spoke wheels are equivalent to that of the 528i M petrol variation.

Interior-wise, the BMW 520d Sport obviously matches the exterior with its uptrend ergonomics and all-around functionality. Like the 528i M, the 520d Sport takes up a high gloss Black dashboard with all the trimmings, the M leather steering and the multifunctional instrument display. For the dashboard’s finely grained upper section, black Dakota leather is featured as standard while high gloss interior trim in Black gives a sportier character all round.

The instrument display now houses a 10.25-inch monitor that shows a wide range of styles, positions and individual preferences, including drive modes like Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport. While, the inclusive BMW ConnectedDrive suite comprises of BMW Apps, M Lap Timer, GoPro, Spotify, and new for the 520d Sport, the BNW Siri (personal voice assistant for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch).

A 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel powerplant gives up an output of 190hp from previously registering 184hp as well as with a peak torque of 400Nm, in comparison to 380Nm of the previous edition. The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, garnering a top speed of 233 km/h. Its power delivery are combined with an average fuel consumption reading of 4.1 l / 100 km and C02 emissions levels of just 109 g/km; for an improvement of 9% over the previous 520d. And thanks to Dynamic Damping and Driver Experience Control, the 520d Sport gets more precise handling and road holding capabilities.

BMW Malaysia has indicated an increase of 13.4 percent in sales for 2014, with a total delivery of 9,046 vehicles. Last year, BMW M’sia managed a total of 7,974 units. Sales uptrend has been spurred by one of BMW’s most popular variants, the 5 Series.

The 2015 BMW 520d Sport in limited number of 50 units has a price tag of RM 354,800.00, minus insurance. Sales starts from 1 April.
