|The recently concluded BMW Golf Cup International Malaysia National Finals tournament at the KLGCC (Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club) saw the top three competitors book their places at the World Finals, scheduled for the Blue Canyon Country Club in Phuket, Thailand in 2014.|
The top three of the BMW Golf Cup Malaysian Leg were Maniam Subramaniam, Dato’ Samsuar Mahmood and Datin Teo Chan Huat who dominated their respective categories. Subramaniam captured the top spot in the Men A category after posting a score of 40 points, while Mahmood carded a score of 45 points to emerge champion in the Men’s B. Teo who took part for the fun of it got the top spot in the women’s category with 34 points.
Subramaniam said of his Men A category win, “I have to admit, I bought a BMW just so I can participate in this event. My car number is five, as it is my favorite number. Interestingly, it took five years for me to get here, so it has to be a good omen for me. I am truly thrilled over the win and look forward to playing at the World Finals next year.”
“I have participated in numerous corporate golf tournaments and this event is simply the best. The smooth running of the event, the hospitality extended plus the lucky draw prizes were simply awesome and I will definitely play in this tournament again next year,” he added.
Teo who participated in the tourney just for the fun didn’t expect that luck would choose her at the BMW Golf Cup KLGCC. “I came here and played for fun. I’m truly surprised of my winning. I realized I did not make too many mistakes and my drive helped me as I did not miss many fairways. It is a great feeling to take the top spot and I can’t wait to have a great time on the green at Phuket Island next year,” Teo explained. Having qualified tops at the Johor Leg and moving to the World Finals, she commented, “I will not put too much pressure on myself and I will go out there and give it my best shot.”
At the domestic leg of the BMW Golf Cup tourney, participants and guests were provided premium hospitality from start to tee-off. The pampering of the golfers did not stop at the clubhouse as it continued throughout the 18-holes as refreshments were offered to keep the players energized in the sweltering conditions.
The National Final marks the end of the BMW Golf Cup International Malaysia 2013 series however, the Hole-In-One prizes of a new BMW X1 sDrive20i plus RM25,000 worth of cash vouchers, yet again remain elusive. Partners of the BMW Golf Cup Malaysian Leg included BMW Credit, Leica, Harman Consumer, Loccitane, Salvatore Ferragamo, Taylor Made.
