BMW F 700 GS and F 800 GS replace the F 650 GS
The newest BMW GS motorrads replace the BMW F 650 GS as motorcycles that are geared for daily rides, more technical riding means and off-road excursions.
BMW F 700 GS and F 800 GS presentation
The BMW F 700 GS and F 800 GS enduros present a forward and upright looking all-round, on-the-road and off-road motorcycle. At a glance, the striking body with a redesigned “beak” above the mudguard makes it unmistakably a BMW Motorrad. Furthermore, a BMW GS splash guard adds a more pronounced finesse to the “beak”, and the bikes’ revised side trims provide that masculine appeal. Other new additions for the BMW F Series motorcycles include; slimmer seat, a more compact front structure, a narrow steering head, wider handlebars for off-roading, a new dial face makeover arranged vertically at the cockpit, new smoke grey glass covers on turn indicators, cover of the rear LED light, and smaller switches, including turn signals; derived from the MID (Molded Interconnect Design) technology.
The major difference between the F 700 GS and 800 GS is the power output and torque ratings, although both bikes share a common 798 cc, liquid-cooled 4-valve 2-cylinder engine, electronic fuel injection, closed-loop catalytic converter and a 6-speed gearbox powertrain. The F 700 GS pulls up to 71 hp, like its predecessor, and 77 Nm at5,300rpm of torque, whilst the F 800 GS max-out at 85 hp @ 7,500 rpm and 83 Nm @ 5,750 rpm.
A standard ABS that’s lighter and more compact is now incorporated in both F Series bikes. The ABS contributes to the bikes’ overall agility, dynamism and efficiency. The two bikes also contain valves that can be infinitely adjusted and new wheel sensors that are able to self-monitor and gauge the distance between sensor and sensor wheel, ensuring that the bike is moving in a safe speed by monitoring the rotation of the wheels. Other safety equipment included in the two motorcycles are; ASC (Automatic Stability Control) and ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment).
For improved ride comfort both the BMW F 700 GS and F 800 GS offer a wide range of optional adjustments on the hand levers for the front brake and clutch as well as wide vibration-damping footrests with removal rubber tops.
