Volkswagen Malaysia hits record sales following successful new car debuts

 Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) saw a record sales performance for its Volkswagen passenger cars which totaled 2,810 units in 2010 (2009: 885 units), the highest sales record since the company started retail operations in 2007. The 217% increase from the previous year is attributed to the timely introduction of three of its new exciting Volkswagen models, strong sales of the Passat CC, further dealer network expansion and of course supported by the a solid economy and an improved consumer sentiment. Mercedes-Benz M’sia passenger cars sales surpasses 5,000 units for the 1st time

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has reported another uptrend in its annual sales figures for 2010 in the premium cars and commercial vehicles segments with an overall increase of 28% which equates to almost 7,000 Mercedes-Benz cars and Mitsubishi FUSO commercial vehicles delivered. Surpassing the previous mark of 6,146 units sold in 2008, MBM disclosed that 6,970 units were shipped out in 2010, and the company not only extended its lead in the premium passenger car market, but continued to make in-roads within the commercial vehicles sector. Honda and UNDP enters into 5th Year of Honda Dreams Fund Scholarship

VW and DRB-Hicom seals pact for production of cars in Malaysia

Volkswagen (VW) Group today made a pact with DRB-Hicom to locally manufacture the VW Passat and Jetta at DRB-Hicom’s Automotive Complex in Pekan, Pahang from 2011. Officiated by the Malaysian Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, an accord between VW Group and DRB-Hicom was fulfilled between Christian Klingler, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, and Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil, Group Managing Director of DRB-HIcom Berhad.
