Citroen DS3 line-up gets upgrades for selected European markets

Citroen has announced its updated DS3 line-up with an upgraded light signature, new engines and additional technology features. Having sold over 300,000 units around the globe, the 2014 DS3 and DS3 Cabrio DSport now attain Numero 9 and Wild Rubis Concept cars’ state-of-the-art headlights that feature a combination of LED and Xenon modules with sequential indicators.

The selected DS3 cars’ new headlights offer exceptional lighting performance when used in dipped or high-beam mode, with the LED and Xenon modules combining to provide enhanced visibility and driver comfort at night. And that’s not all, the upgraded headlights are intended to create a bold visual appeal or striking semblance and at the same time, provide a distinctive Citroen ‘Exclusivity’ signature, via the LED modules and sequential indicators. Both DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio retain their distinctive 3D-effect LED rear lights, with a chrome finished DS logo in a black embossed DS pattern setting.

More personalization options for the Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio

To further enhance the allure of DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio, and to ensure that they remain unique and desirable, the brand is also introducing a new range of personalization options. Also from July production, selected versions of DS 3 will be available with the choice of a laser-etched dashboard strip and a screen-printed rear window. Color options have also been enhanced, with the addition of Pearl White as a body color on DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio, as well as the special only-for-Cabrio color, BelleIle Blue. DS 3 gains the availability of new visually striking 17” diamond-cut alloy wheels on selected vesions.

Citroen has stressed that the headlights’ efficiency are much improved, with energy consumption lower by 35% in dipped mode and by 75% in high-beam mode. The LEDs last up to 20 times longer than halogens, with an impressive standard lifetime of 20,000 hours.

The two DS3s have an option of two diesel or a petrol powerplant; BlueHDi 120, BlueHDi 100 and PureTech e-VTi 82 ETG. The diesels BlueHDi 120 and BlueHDi 100 are Euro 6 complaint, and thanks to SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), NOx emissions are cut by 90%, while CO2 emissions is down by up to 4%. The BlueHDi 100’s fuel consumption and emissions ratings are just 2.5 l/100km, 79g/km of CO2, and the 120 engine tops out at 3 l/100km, 94g/km. The petrol powerplant paired tothe 5-speed automated manual ETG (Efficient Tronic Gearbox), available in the UK and selected markets, delivers 3.4l/100km and produces just 95g/km of CO2.

Added Safety features for the Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio

In addition, the DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio are already recognized for having the largest boot in their class and five ‘real’ seats. Selected versions will be available in the UK (from July) with ‘Active City Brake’. This is an automatic braking system that helps to prevent low-speed collisions at speeds lower than 32 km/h. This is achieved thanks to a short-range radar, mounted at the top of the windscreen, which identifies slow moving or stationary vehicles on the road ahead. Day-to-day manoeuvres are made easier too, with the addition of an optional reversing camera on both DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio.
