|Ducati APAC in tandem with Next Bike, Ducati’s Malaysian distributors, last weekend organized one of the largest Ducati Monster owners gathering in the Northern State of Penang.|
Being the first Asia Ducati Monster meet, there were hundreds of Ducati Monster bikes from the Asian region literally creating a lot of noise in the already hustling and bussling city to the ‘awe’ of 500 visitors and thousands of Penangites.
The Asia Ducati Monster weekend marked the 20th Anniversary of the Monster variant and was dedicated to the best-selling Ducati variant in the country. Ducati Monster owners or Ducatisti who participated in the gathering were treated to a host of fun-filled activities; such as dance performances, body art painting, a live concert, the Mr/Ms Monster competition and a scrumptious buffet; at the popular Gurney Paragon Mall, Gurney Drive. Needless to say, Next Bike gave out loads of Ducati merchandise to competition and lucky draw winners.
On day two, the Ducatisti took a sightseeing ride along the coast and dropped by an orphanage home for charitable causes. The orphanage home residents had the opportunity to view a plethora of Ducati Monsters present at their charity home. Next Bike’s Boss of Bosses Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, also Naza Group of Companies’ Joint Group Executive Chairman, contributed RM 10,000 to the charity home.
To mark the occasion, a special website has been setup for participants of the Asia Ducati Monster Gathering where from 11 – 31 May the Ducatisti would be able to share and post their Asia Ducati Monster weekend moments to this webpage. The best shot stands a chance to win two Ducati Tribune tickets for the upcoming MotoGP 2013 in October at Sepang.
Pierfrancesco Scalzo, Commercial Director of Ducati Asia Pacific, shared, “Being an icon in the motorcycle world, means certainly evolution and loyalty to its original style at the same time: indeed the Monster has been renewed during the years, with new design and technologically advanced innovations and without losing its unique characteristics.”
Faisal added, “We are delighted to once again be collaborating with Ducati APAC and it gives us great pleasure to welcome Ducati owners from the Asia region to Malaysia. We are greatly honored that Penang, Malaysia has been chosen as the location for this inaugural gathering especially as we may be seeing a new Ducati Center opening here in the very near future. In the country, there are currently more than 900 Ducati Monsters roaring through the streets and turning heads everywhere they go. We always strive to ensure steady growth of the brand in Malaysia and through our efforts to better serve domestic Ducatisti with top-notch services that they deserve as a Ducati owner.”
Over the years, Next Bike has achieved monumental feats for the Ducati marque, including ‘Best Showroom Opening 2012’, ‘Best Sales 2012’, and successfully initiated the Asia Ducati Week 2010 and 2012, as well as the Ducati Borneo Experience.
