Aston Martin has announced the enhanced version of the Vanquish and Rapide S to be made available from the third quarter of the year. The 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish Tungsten Silver 15MY, Vanquish Volante 15MY and Rapide S now have better performance and much-improved fuel efficiency and emissions, as well as a more honed, precise and responsive driving experience.

There are subtle but important styling enhancements, both inside and outside, that add extra visual appeal for Aston Martin Vanquish and Rapide S. On the exterior, the upgraded, lighter ten-spoke forged alloy wheels and new colors are new elements for both Super cars. The Diavalo Red color available for the first time in the two variants was previously limited only to the much desired V12 Zagato.

Interior magic for the Aston Martin Vanquish and Rapide S 15MY

Inside, the cars get new leather trim color options including the contemporary blue-black Dark Knight, and bold Fandango Pink. Rapide S also gains the exciting option of a new Duotone leather seat finish in Sahara Tan and Vibrant Red, as well as a range of new headlining options that mix quilting with the finest leathers or Alcantara.

Both the Aston Martin Vanquish 15MYs and Rapide S are now incorporated with the Touchtronic III 8-speed ZF automatic transmission in a transaxle layout. The new gearbox is 3% lighter than the previous installment and ensures quicker shifts at 130 milliseconds; comparable to touring race cars. This translates to approximately a second reduction in Vanquish’s 0 – 100 km/h sprint from 4.7 seconds to 3.8 seconds, and for the Rapide S, now at 4.4 secs. Both cars are capable of a top speed of above 322 km/h (200 mph). Changes to the gear and final drive ratios enable lower emissions, which dropped 10%, 298 g/km for the Vanquish and 300 g/km for the Rapide S.

Fuel economy, meanwhile, has been reduced by 11% to 7.58 liter per 100 km (31 mpg) for both variants. For power output, the Vanquish gets a peak of 568 bhp (576 PS), an increase of 3 bhp, and the Rapide S hits 552 bhp (560 PS), a spike of 2 bhp. Torque-wise, both variants get up to 630 Nm at 5,500 rpm. In addition, ‘Drive’ and ‘Drive Sport’ modes along with ‘Paddle Shift’ and ‘Paddle Shift Sport’ options are instilled to ensure an engaging, sporting drive and complete shift control for both variants.

Relevant highlights for the 2015 Vanquish and Rapide S include the Bosch Engine Management System, Optimal, multi-ratio downshifts, ADR (Adaptive Drive Recognition) and uprated dampers, as well as larger front brakes and amended rear suspension bushes for the Rapide S. Besides that, an improved chassis and revised torque tube assure effective powertrain performance and reduced transmission noise transfer into the passenger compartment, while the revised DSC is comprised of the retuned, optimized stability system. At the same time, a revised steering ECU delivers an even more crisp and precise steering response.
