|Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) launched the much enhanced entry level Porsche Macan 2016 at the Sepang International Kart Circuit today.|
Extending the lineup of Porsche’s entry level compact SUV, the Macan features a more powerful 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 252bhp between 5,000-6,800rpm and generates 370Nm of twist between 1,600-4,500rpm. All this power goes to a 7-speed PDK dual clutch transmission to power the 1,770kg car from nought to 100km/h in a mere 6.7s, on to an electronically limited top speed of 229km/h.
An optional Sport Chrono package cuts two-tenths of a second off the century sprint to 6.5s for an even more exhilarating ride. Despite its SUV bulk, the new Macan achieves a claimed 7.2-7.4l per 100km average fuel economy, depending on rim and tire package. The in-line four banger in the Macan features 2-Bars of boost pressure, charge air-cooling, petrol direct injection and variable valve timing. VarioCam Plus electronically governs the intake and exhaust valves for power and economy on the go.
All Porsche models come equipped with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active All-Wheel Drive system to ensure an engaging driver experience. An optional air suspension system with leveling control adds an extra dimension of precision driving control for demanding customers.
To make the entry-level 2016 Macan even more enticing, Porsche’s signature four-point LED daytime running lights are featured, along with an optional LED headlight system with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). Alongside these enhancements, very little else differentiates this model from its more powerful S sibling.
Enhancements continue within the new Porsche Macan. The very latest infotainment system in the Macan features a high resolution touch screen that recognizes multi-touch gestures and full support for Apple CarPlay. A Bose surround system with subwoofer rounds up the list of enhancements.
The new enhanced 2016 Porsche Macan is estimated to cost around RM435,000, but official prices have yet to be revealed at the time of writing. The Macan is the best selling model that Porsche has ever released into our market, and the new enhancements will ensure continued success of one of the most desirable sport luxury SUVs on offer.
