|Euromobil, distributors of Audi cars, today released the beautiful Audi A6 Hybrid, the first hybrid variant in the domestic Audi distributor’s line-up.|
The Audi A6 Hybrid, based on the four-ring marque’s popular full-sized sedan, has previously made its initial debut at the 2011 NAIAS in Detroit, MI.
Audi A6 Hybrid exterior
The Audi A6 Hybrid takes up a long engine hood, low, taut roof line and sharp lines all around. The front fascia is highlighted by the unique headlights with eight-squared and a strip lighting of LED technology, plus the signature Audi grille and four-ring emblem. The side and rear of the A6 Hybrid are kept simple with noticeable lines and the bright LED-strip rear lights. According to the brand from Ingolstadt, the body comprises predominantly of lightweight materials such as, aluminium and high-tech steels, including 18-inch aluminium turbine wheels.
Audi A6 Hybrid interior
Inside, the most striking element is an inlay that surrounds the driver and front passenger, known as the “wrap-around”. An Audi MMI Navigation plus system, a fabulous instrument cluster, EV (Electric mode), sensor and traction control switches define console and dashboard neatly, while dual-zone air-conditioning knobs (front & rear), and gear and audio unit controls are packed nicely on the console within the reach of the driver or front passenger. The MMI Navigation plus system, which in additional to its normal functions, can also display the energy flows in the hybrid system or a breakdown of energy consumption. Optional module include the high-end BOSE sound system and Bluetooth car phone online – an integrated WLAN hotspot and providing access to G Maps. The cabin and all round consist of black scheme and grey, silver trimmings, and the seats are made of supple leather materials in black.
Audi A6 Hybrid powertrain and EV
The Audi A6 hybrid’s four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI powerplant produces a combined total (combustion and electric motor) of 245 hp of system output and 480 Nm of system torque. The A6 hybrid’s combustion engine alone churns 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 54 hp and 210 Nm of torque. The powertrain combines an 8-speed tiptronic transmission with Dynamic Shift Program (DSP) and integrated electric motor, which required no additional space, it controls the connection to the combustion engine through the clutch for shifting ease, sportiness and efficiency. Speaking of efficiency, standard urban, extra-urban and combined consumption are all equal at 6.2 liters per 100 km.
The light and compact lithium-ion battery in the Audi A6 Hybrid has a nominal capacity of 1.3 kWh. Two different methods are used to cool the battery, depending on need: with air blown from the passenger compartment by a fan and via a separate cooling circuit coupled to the automatic a/c system. This technology keeps the battery within the suitable temperature window over a broad range, ensuring a relatively large proportion of electric driving while increasing the battery life-span.
When the EV button is depressed, the A6 Hybrid can go up to 100 km/h purely on electric power with virtually no noise and with zero emissions, and has a range of three kilometers at a constant 60 km/h. For that extra push, the boost mode enables a full output of 245 hp. During its recovery phase, the A6 Hybrid recuperates energy during braking and overrun phases as the electric motor operates as a generator, converting kinetic energy into electric energy. This is stored in the lithium-ion battery and subsequently used to operate the electric motor. In convenient start-stop mode, the internal combustion is switched off when the car is at idle to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The A6 hybrid is available from RM280,000 OTR without insurance and ready for test drives at all Euromobil showrooms.
