The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the Prancing Horses first-ever Plug-in Hybrid EV  production Supercar.

The SF90 Stradale’s design takes up a signature rectangular Prancing badge sported by Ferrari’s road cars. Highlights include smaller overhangs, a more curved windshield, slender A-posts and a wide track and those amazing slit headlighs with three-pronged matrix LED DRLs, hinting a futuristic outlook,  

A special metal-colored version will soon be made available. There’re two vaiiants to the Stradale, a standard and sports-oriented; both carry these highlights: special GT racing-derived Multimatic shock absorbers, extra lightweight features (carbon-fiber) and titanium (springs, entire exhaust line). This shaves 30 kg of gross weight. From the rear,  the high-downforce spoiler can generate 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. Completing the package is Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 soft compound tyres.

Inside, the cabin has  a cab-forward-type architecture which emphasizes the fact that the engine is mid-mounted. A very low center of gravity has also allowed the designers to lower the cabin area by 20 mm. Furthermore, the  compact bubble-shaped cabin has an aeronautical cockpit feel and the fact that it has been shifted so far forward is further emphasized by the geometry of the two body-colored rear flying buttresses that enclose the rear.

In a first for a Ferrari, the central instrument cluster comprises a single 16-inch digital HD screen, to go with  a steering with touchpad and  traditional switches, and head-up display (part of the innovative HMI). Alongside the new-concept HMI, another major theme tackled in the cabin was the tunnel area interface. The F1 controls on the “bridge” are probably the most iconic of the Ferraris of recent generations. These have been completely redesigned and set into a modern metal plate which references an equally iconic feature from the past: the classic gear lever gate.

The central instrument cluster is now entirely digital with the first automotive application of a 16-inch curved HD screen. Meantime, the central tunnel, gear selection controls are now selected by a grille-style feature with a manual gear-shift gate. This plug-in hybrid EV supercar sees the debut of the new ignition key with full keyless technology.

As a Supercar, you can’t expect the Stradale to be merely a fuel-efficient fast car with its V8 power unit that pumps 780 cv, plus additional 220 cx from 3 electric motors. The powertrain includes an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. The Stradale does a 0 – 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Only the best is equipped for a Ferrari, the Stradae has 4WD, an all-wheel drive system. Fully integrated into the car’s vehicle dynamics controls, the RAC-e governs the distribution of torque; which means driving on the limit is as easy as 1-2-3. There are four drive modes: eDrive, Hybrid, Performance and Qualify.

For extreme agility and driving dynamics, the F90 Stradale comes with eSSC (electronic Side Slip Control) vehicle control system. The eSSC introduces three innovative dynamic regulation and distribution strategies for engine torque to all four wheels: Another worthy innovation in this supercar is the ‘shut-off Gurney’, a patented active system located at the rear of the car which regulates the air flow over the upper body, reducing drag at high speeds with low lateral dynamics loads and increasing downforce in corners, under braking and during changes of direction.
