Ford Focus ST An Automotive Data Intelligence provider selected the Ford Focus ST, based on the immensely popular new Ford Focus, as the best seller amongst hot hatch cars in Europe for final quarter of 2012.

Ford Focus ST is best selling hot hatch in Europe

The Focus ST outranked a popular German counterpart and a famed French hot hatch 44% to 33 % and 12 % respectively.
The Ford Focus ST tallied 1,984 units in the U.K. alone last year and led the hot hatch segment in these major European countries; Denmark, Norway, Finland, Hungary, Switzerland, Sweden and the Netherlands.

“The unrivalled balance of performance and usability has been recognized by some fantastic reviews for the Focus ST from Europe’s media,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “You really have to drive it yourself to experience the responsiveness of the engine and the fantastic chassis; and I am just one of one of a fast-growing group of excited ST drivers.”

In all, Ford sold a total of 3,819 new Focus STs in Europe – 74 per cent hatchbacks and 26 per cent wagons. The most popular color has been Frozen White (41 per cent), followed by Panther Black (28 per cent) and Tangerine Scream (17 per cent).

Equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the 3rd-generation Focus ST is Ford’s first truly global performance car, having launched in North America, Europe and other markets last year. The Focus ST was first announced in Malaysia last September, the first in the South Asian region, followed by introductions in Singapore and Hong Kong. Additional introductions in the Asia Pacific region are due later this year.

The Ford Focus ST has garnered plenty media recognitions, among them; “Best Hot Hatch” by a U.K. Auto magazine, “Best Car in its segment” in Denmark and “Hot Hatch of the Year”.
