The Ford GT MK!! for track only is one of the main attractions at Goodwood Festival of Speed. This 700 hp Ford GT beast takes up a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, race-proven aerodynamics and competition-oriented handling. This special edition is limited to just 45 examples in the world, with a price tag of 1.2 million USD.
A brainchild of Ford Performance and Multimatic, the GT MKII is developed based on the experiences garnered from the WEC (World Endurance Championship) and IMSA SportsCar Championship.
The Ford GT is iconic, no matter how you look at it. It’s a pure-bred crafted to do one thing and one thing only – to exhilarate! The fact that it’s a track-ready racer means there are requirements for a large dual-element rear wing, a new front racing splitter and diffuser, and new fender louvres and dive planes. All these elements translate to 400 percent more downforce than a regular GT. This downforce is aided by race-proven suspension, while grip levels count on the tailored Michelin Pilots (more than 2 g of lateral grip). A front fascia with stylized Ford GT headlights with DRLs and hood make the MKII a lot meaner.
Inside, the MKII gets a bespoke Sparco racing seat with a six-point racing harness and an optional passenger seat, along with a full MoTeC data acquisition system. The system’s got a display for the rear camera too.
Lighter, 90 kg down, and meaner, the Ford GT MKII’s got adjustable ride height thanks to 5-way adjustable DSSV shocks and available drive modes.
Upping the horsepower by 200, the MKII is the most powerful version of the Ford GT and is paired to a similar seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. To handle all that hp, the MKII got a new engine cooling (a high capacity air-to-air outboard mounted charge air cooler with water spray technology) that allows for a consistent level of power at high temperatures. Furthermore, a roof-mounted intake reminiscent of the race car engine air intake has been added for the Mk II to feed auxiliary engine, clutch and transmission coolers.
Ford GT MKII: Optimum Braking
Braking performance is taken care of by the carbon ceramic brakes, including 15.5-inch front and 14.1-inch rear Brembo brakes. These go with the 19-inch wheels and Pilot Sports.
