2015-Ford-Ranger-Wildtrak-River_resize Ford Malaysia (Sime Darby Auto Connexion, SDAC) has announced a shortened waiting period for the Ford Ranger Wildtrak from a year to approximately six months. It is speculated that the Ranger Wildtrak’s waiting period would eventually be reduced to 3 months, due to popular demand.

The Ford Ranger, one of the most popular pick ups in the country, has been updated for the year, since Ford Malaysia unveiled the refreshed line-up in October, last year. The Ranger line-up comprises of the Ranger XL, Ranger XLT and 3.2L Ranger Wildtrak.

The 2016 Ford Ranger Wildtrak has attained a new stylish and functional interior, along with new technologies. One of the most important features of the Ranger, and for the Wildtrak for that matter, is the best-in-class capability for water-wading, towing and payload capacity.

Under the hood, thanks to significant improvement to Ford’s latest generation 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder (200 PS of power and 470 Nm), the Wildtrak delivers up to 12 percent better fuel-efficiency.

With a class-leading ability to wade through water up to 800 mm deep and 230 mm of ground clearance, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak is the most capable pickup thanks to its 28-degree approach angle and 25-degree departure angle. The other capabilities are the towing of up to 3,500 kg and an exceptional payload capacity of up to 1,200kg.

The driving experience is further enhanced by an electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system, which provides precise steering with a natural and confident feel. With EPAS, steering is light and manageable for low-speed manoeuvring, such as parking, and precise at higher speeds; with assistance varying as necessary based on speed, steering wheel angle, cornering forces and acceleration or deceleration.

Equipped with an array of smart technologies, the Ranger’s intuitive features make any task a breeze. The Ranger WildTrak features SYNC 2, the latest generation of Ford’s in-car connectivity system that boasts an eight-inch color touchscreen to operate phone, entertainment and climate control using a simple voice command system. Another first-in-segment for the new Ranger is Ford’s exclusive MyKey system, which allows the programming of various features, such as setting the maximum speed limit, a seatbelt reminder and the maximum volume of the audio system.

Two other convenient features are a light installed in the cargo tray and a 230-volt power socket. Both handy features are exclusive to the Ranger in the pickup segment. The Ranger’s reinforced safety cell is supplemented with the protection of frontal impact airbags for the driver and passenger in all variants, and a class-leading six airbag configuration in the WildTrak variant, which also features side and curtain airbags.

Smart driver assistance systems included for the Ranger Wildtrak are the Forward Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control (specially for the Wildtrak) and front-facing camera. Other driver’s assistance and passive safety feature highlights consist of; Electronic Stability Control (ESC) active driving system, Hill Launch Assist, e-Locking Rear Differential, Hill Descent Control, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Load Control, Emergency Brake Assist and ISOFIX.

The Ford Ranger Wildtrak retails for RM132,188 in four color variations: True Red, Metropolitan Grey, Highlight Silver and Cool White.
