The 2017 Honda Jazz Sport Hybrid i-DCD had its world debut at a domestic Autoshow in Malaysia. Previously we’ve shared some insights of the Jazz Sport Hybrid, which came in a Lunar Silver body color at its world premiere, and the Jazz petrol. Both the Sport Hybrid i-DCD and petrol versions are expected to hit the Malaysian market this quarter.
Malaysia is the only country outside Japan to introduce Honda’s new intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive (i-DCD) Hybrid System which is equipped with a new 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine. The Sport Hybrid i-DCD combines a 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission with integrated High Power Motor to promote superior acceleration with improved response resulting in a sporty drive experience for the driver. Electric Vehicle (EV) mode drivability is also promoted by having independently functioning motor and engine which assists in sustaining regenerative energy and enhances fuel efficiency.
The Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) for the Sport Hybrid i-DCD system will be able to generate 1.5 times its energy capacity and double the system output. The horsepower of the New Jazz Hybrid stands at 137PS which is equivalent to the output of a 1.8-liter engine. The maximized power output by the Sport Hybrid i-DCD system enables it to exude the sporty driving experience.
The popular Ultra Seats which has become synonymous with the Jazz will be offered in the updated Jazz as well. The 4 modes of the Ultra Seats which are Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh are well-known for its versatility and ability to convert to the different modes based on customer needs for enhanced spaciousness.
Rebates of up to RM12,000 were offered for visitors to Honda’s booth at the autoshow, along with plenty of Interesting family activities and test drive sessions. Lucky draw sessions and a special Facebook contest were also part of the festivities.
The 2017 Jazz petrol will be on display at the upcoming Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2017 Race Entry Pack Collection between 18 – 20 May at KL Convention Center and on the Race Day on 21 May at Dataran Merdeka. In addition, the new Jazz variants are scheduled to go on a road tour around the country, thereafter.
