Honda Malaysia today announced their estimated sales target for the first four months of the year. They are on target to achieve the 4-month target of 100,000 units, that represents the number one spot in the non-National segment and number two in overall Total Industry Volume (TIV).

Despite setting a challenging target for 2017, Honda Malaysia has achieved 35% of the sales target with more than 34,500 unit vehicles sold as of April 2017. On a year-on-year comparison for the same period, the sales achievement of first four months this year increased with more than 9,800 units sold which is 40% higher compared to 2016.

In terms of market share, Honda contributed 19.4% to the TIV as of March 2017 which was 5.1 points higher compared to the same period last year. Following the strong result from the 2 models (BR-V and City) launched in the first quarter, Honda Malaysia achieved an all-time high with a record of 20.5% market share for the very first time in March 2017. The BR-V sold more than 7,800 units and contributed 23% to the current overall sales. The City also contributed 23% to the overall sales, with more than 7,200 bookings since its launch.

The 10th Generation Civic is the third model to contribute to Honda Malaysia’s target. The model sold more than 15,700 units since its launch in June last year. Prior to the introduction of the 10th Generation Civic, the monthly sales in the overall market for C- Segment with Turbocharged engine was between 50 to 200 units. Currently, the Turbo variant of the Civic alone is sold at an average of 840 units per month, which makes up to 60% of the total number of Civic sold.

Other models contributing to the sales cause are the Jazz, HR-V and Accord. More recently on 1 May, Honda Malaysia announced that the HR-V and CR-V 2.0 2WD models will get new prices due to the new excise duty from the re-classification under the updated customs tariff code. The new pricing of HR-V will be starting from RM101,000 – RM121,000 while the new pricing of CR-V 2.0 2WD will be RM141,500.

Apart from the new pricing announcement, Honda has planned two exciting campaigns in the month of May for customers. The first campaign will be a month-long festive campaign, ‘Nikmati Musim Bonus’ which begins on 1 May and runs up to 31 May. Honda customers will enjoy 2 years of free service (Parts & Labor) or cash option; and enjoy Honda rewards of up to RM12,000. The second campaign is a Honda Nationwide showroom event which falls on Saturday, 13 May between 10am to 4pm in conjunction with Mother’s Day. All Honda dealers nationwide will be a hive of activity to appreciate mothers. Besides Test Drive Gifts and Lucky Draws, mothers and ladies can expect to receive roses and a Mother’s Day card made by their own children at the Honda showroom.

On a concluding note, Honda Malaysia has further assured customers that during this upcoming Raya festive period, the waiting period for all Honda models will remain at a month to two months, tops. This is possible due to the full load capacity of the two production lines at Honda’s manufacturing plant in Pegoh, Malacca.
