|Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors today announced two of its latest variants, the Hyundai Tucson 2.0-liter and Veloster Turbo. The locally-assembled, mid-sized SUV Hyundai Tucson now gets several upgraded features on the inside and out.|
Since its premiere in 2004, the Hyundai Tucson has been a worldwide hit with 2 million units sold. Domestically, HSDM has testified that the Tuscon remains a core variant in the company’s product line-ups. With the Hyundai Tucson being locally-assembled, HSDM is able to slash the price of the mid-sized SUV, yet maintain its international standards in all facets; exterior, interior and powertrains.
Hyundai Tuscon Elegance and Sport editions to fit SUV enthusiasts’ diverse requirements
The 2015 Hyundai Tucson is offered in two versions, Elegance and Sport. Differences between the versions are miniscule. Both versions share a roof rack, projector headlights with LED positioning lights, outside mirror repeaters and a rear spoiler. The door handles for the Tuscon Elegance follows body color, whereas the Sport version gets Chrome-coated handles. A sunroof is made available only for the Sport version.
The Tuscon Elegance has soft PVC-wrapped steering, while the Sport receives a full leather-wrapped steering. Power window with auto down is available for the driver only on the Tuscon Elegance, however the Tuscon Sport has auto down for all four sides. Standard audio with radio, CD and MP3 is recommended for the Elegance, with the touchscreen, navigation reserved for the Tuscon Sport. Other items especially for the Sport include Smart key with Start stop switch, Parking Assist and rear- and front-view cameras.
With no changes under the hood, the Tucson 2.0-liter maintains the 2.0 NU engine that delivers 158ps of horsepower at 6,200rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A standard 6-speed automatic transmission transfers power to the wheels.
Color options for the Tucson Elegance include Pure White, Titanium Grey, Hyper Metallic, Pepper Grey, and exclusive colors for the Sport versi0n are: Remington Red, Phantom Black Sleek Silver and Platinum Silver.
Hyundai Veloster Turbo: Coming Soon!
Previously made available for the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motor, the fully-imported Veloster Turbo is now refreshed for the year. As most have already known, the Veloster Turbo is Hyundai’s turbocharged version of the unique 1+2 door sporty coupe.
It is the first Hyundai vehicle to be fitted with the 1.6-liter T-GDI engine that features a high-compression, twin-scroll turbocharger combined with the GDI system. The Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is the smallest Hyundai engine to use direct injection. This technology helps deliver more power, superior efficiency, lower emissions and higher reliability.
The T-GDI engine offers fast power delivery of 186 ps horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. Mated to performance-oriented 7-speed dual-clutch Automatic transmission (DCT), the new Veloster Turbo is definitely an aggressive-natured and dynamic car.
Apart from a new engine, the 2015 Veloster Turbo gets a host of new upgrades including a much sportier look. Among the exciting new features are sport-tuned engine intake and exhaust note, new front fascia, 18-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED accents, LED rear lights, a sporty two-tone colored seat, and new exterior colors, including Hyundai’s limited edition Matte Grey. Further details are expected to be revealed at its official introduction very soon.
HSDM distributes the Hyundai Tuscon Elegance at RM115, 888 and the Tuscon Sport at RM132, 888. Prices do not include insurance, but factor in a 5-year warranty (300,000 km) and 24-hour road assist service. The Veloster Turbo has an estimated starting price of RM150, 000.
