The Rio’s progressive new exterior and interior design was led by Kia’s design centers in Germany and California, in close collaboration with the company’s main design center in Namyang, Korea. Straight lines and smooth surfacing give the car a distinctive new character, while a longer front overhang and bonnet, longer wheelbase, and upright C-pillar give the car an even more confident and balanced appearance than its predecessor.

The new Kia Rio will offer buyers class-leading practicality and safety technology, the latest connectivity features, and more assured and engaging ride and handling characteristics.

The Kia Rio is the Korean manufacturer’s global best-selling model, with more than 473,000 sold around the world in 2015. The next generation will enter production towards the end of 2016 for Europe, with production timings for other regions to be announced closer to launch.

Further details of the new Kia Rio will be announced soon after its unveiling at the Motor show. Production and roll-out of the new Kia Rio is set for 2017.

Snippet of the Kia Rio Sedan

Launched in January this year, the Rio Sedan carries the recognizable Kia identity from inside and out. Presented in a stylish sub-compact with its familiar urban characteristics, the Rio Sedan can possibly appease B-segment buyers slightly more than the hatchback version, due to a number of varying factors.

At a glance, the front takes up the recognizable ‘Tiger Nose’ radiator grille with a geometrical lattice pattern. The fascia is paired to bulb DRLs (daytime running lights) and halogen headlights. Further differentiating the Rio Sedan and hatchback version is the more pronounced fog lights, wrapped in chrome. To create a sleek profile, the roofline of the Rio sedan has a low sloping towards the rear, which gives the sub-compact a tight rear-end. From the rear, the Rio Sedan shares the hatchback version’s features; almost to the point. Finishing off the exterior attributes are the 15-inch wheels and tyres.

Naza Kia Malaysia retails the Kia Rio Sedan at an affordable RM72,888 price tag in four body colors: Bright Silver, Signal Red, Deep Blue and Clear White.
