allcarschannel  Jaguar has announced the world premiere of the XE variant, deemed a true driver’s car. The rear-drive Jaguar XE redefines the concept of the sports saloon thanks to its advanced lightweight construction, streamlined styling, luxurious interior, and outstanding ride and handling.

The Jaguar XE now completes the saloon car range, sitting below the XF and XJ variants. With a long wheelbase and low seating position, the XE is gifted near-perfect proportions and streamlined, coupe-like profile. The profile consists of short front overhang and long rear overhang, and the car’s front fascia has the cab-rearward stance and signature J-Blade running lights. From the rear, the lights, a horizontal line intersecting a roundel, is a powerful styling feature inherited from the iconic E-type. Co-efficient drag rating is just 0.26, lowest ever for a Jaguar production car. For the range topping XE S, there is large front air intakes, chrome side vents, discreet rear spoiler and optional 20-inch wheels.

Inside the XE, the cabin is all about comfort and spaciousness with the premium materials and finishes. The spacious cabin cocoons front seat passengers with a deep center console which creates a cockpit-like feel. The F-TYPE-style dials and the cluster needle sweep on start-up further emphasize the XE’s sports saloon attributes. Front and rear seat occupants enjoy generous amounts of head and legroom, while every bit of details comprises technical fabrics, fine-grain leathers, stitches and wood veneers.

In addition, a new InControl infotainment system offers the latest technologies to connect car, driver and the outside world. At its heart is an eight-inch touchscreen featuring a clear, intuitive graphical interface and fast response times. The system is able to work via voice control, and the screen tackles navigation, core Android and iOS connectivity and even internet-on-the-go.

The range topping XE S features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 powerplant that churns 340PS and 450Nm of
torque. Accelerating to 0 – 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, the XE S has an electronically-limited maximum speed of 250 km/h (155mph). Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines offer adequate performance, fuel consumption and emissions numbers. The 3.0-liter XE is paired to an 8-speed transmission with paddle shifters, while the 2.0-liters are paired to either 6-speed or 8-speed gearbox.

Prominent chassis features of the XE include an Aluminium-intensive monocoque, MacPherson strut front suspension (double wishbone) with aluminium front knuckles, and an integral multilink rear suspension.

The Jaguar XE variant is scheduled to on sale in early 2015, with the XE S being the highest version of the line-up.
