The publication presented ten ICOTY awards to new or existing model year vehicles with significant and/or impressive improvements at the NAIAS. These awards are based on the emotional connection between the owner and vehicle. The winners were selected by the jury from the automotive, motoring fraternities and related auto sources.
According the publication’s editor, the Kia Optima was selected as the ICOTY because of its functional yet sleek design as well as advanced features that match effortlessly with customers’ lifestyles on many levels.
In addition to this accolade, the Optima has earned a number of awards for all of last year such as; the 2012 “Best New Car Value” award from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, “Sedan of the Year” by Autobytel.com and one of the “Top Drives for 2012” by the Boston Globe and a “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest.
