kia-optima-k5-garners-icoty-accolade-states Kia’s popular mid-size sedan the Optima K5 has garnered the International Car of the Year (ICOTY) accolade by Road & Travel magazine at the 2013 North American International Motor show (NAIAS). This feather-in-the-cap represents Kia’s rising popularity in the United States.

Completely redesigned for the 2011 model year, the Optima’s impeccable design combined with modern amenities and impressive value propelled the mid-size sedan to becoming the top-selling Kia vehicle in 2012. In the States, the Optima continues to reel in new buyers, thanks to the car’s generous offerings from design, performance to features-packed conveniences and safety technologies.

The publication presented ten ICOTY awards to new or existing model year vehicles with significant and/or impressive improvements at the NAIAS. These awards are based on the emotional connection between the owner and vehicle. The winners were selected by the jury from the automotive, motoring fraternities and related auto sources.

According the publication’s editor, the Kia Optima was selected as the ICOTY because of its functional yet sleek design as well as advanced features that match effortlessly with customers’ lifestyles on many levels.

In addition to this accolade, the Optima has earned a number of awards for all of last year such as; the 2012 “Best New Car Value” award from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, “Sedan of the Year” by and one of the “Top Drives for 2012” by the Boston Globe and a “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest.
