Following their official debut in the country, the new Kia Sportage and Sorento has arrived in East Malaysia, courtesy of Naza Kia Malaysia. Both Kia Sportage and Sorento, having been unveiled at the end of May, are presented to ‘Seduce and Conquer’ with its attractive designs and prices. The new Sportage starts at RM RM 121,888, while the new Sorento has a listed starting price of RM 155,888.

The new Kia Sportage, into its fourth-generation, comes with a sporty and powerful appearance thanks to its hallmark ‘tiger-nose’ grille,headlights with Ice Cube foglights and LED DRLs. Furthermore, the swept back along the outer edges of the sharply-detailed bonnet and a lower and wider grille give the Sportage a more menacing front look. The highlights at the rear of the new Sportage comprise of slim combination lights, turn signals and reversing lights, a re-profiled undercover and a newly-designed bumper. Wheel options for the Sportage consists of the 17-inchers for the Sportage KX and 19-inch for the Sportage ‘GT Line’.
Inside, the new Sportage is set to be the most practical Kia SUV yet thanks to increased interior dimensions and a cabin with wide, driver-oriented dashboard, as well as simple refinements. A range of on-board technologies has been reserved for the new Sportage, including an 8-seaker JBL system, 4.2-inch LCD screen on the supervision instrument cluster, and power seats for both driver and front passenger.
Engine options valid for the new Sportage is the 2.0 Nu MPI engine with Dual CVVT, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The output for Kia’s latest C-SUV is 155 Ps and 192 Nm of torque.
The 2016 Kia Sportage is loaded with a host of driver’s assistance systems and safety features such as; the Vehicle Stability Management suite, Hill Start Assist, Front Park Assist, ESC, ABS, Active Safety suite, TPMS, ISOFIX, and a total of six airbags.
Kia Sorento: Out to Conquer
A glance at the front entails the new Kia Sorento’s prevalent signature Tiger-nose grille, HID Headlights with adaptive light system and LED DRL as well as rectangle-shaped foglights and surround chrome molding at the bottom bumper. When viewed from the side, the new Sorento stands out with these features; 19-inch wheels, a streamlined roof silhouette and roof rails. To the rear, the skid plate, fog lights and integrated brake light mounted on the spoiler immediately catch anyone’s attention.
The new Sorento is equipped with 17-inch wheels on the Turbo diesel variants, while 19-inchers come standard on the petrol variant. A premium chrome alloy 19-inch wheel is also available as option.
The ‘Conti’ refinements are carried forth into the interior with a wide and contemporary interpretation. The new Kia Sorento’s interior is presented in a horizontal layout and consists of higher proportion of soft-touch and leather materials to give the SUV a genuine premium ambience. On-board amenities and technologies incorporated are; the 7-inch touchscreen on the Supervision cluster, powered tailgate, rear air-conditioning vents, multimedia infotainment sustem (2.4) or standard head unit (2.2), rear blinds, seven-seater arrangement, eight-way power assisted driver’s seat, Smart parking assist system, smart power tailgate and TPMS (Tyre pressure monitoring system).
The Kia Sorento is offered in three variants, a 2.4MPI with CVVT petrol engine, paired to a six-speed auto transmission, in mid- and high-spec and the 2.2 CRDi turbo diesel powerplant, matched to a six-speed auto transmission. The petrol variant churns 171 PS and 224.6 NM of torque, whereas the turbo diesel enables a whopping 200PS at 3,800 rpm and 441.3 Nm between 1,750 – 2,750 rpm.
As for safety equipment, the new Kia Sorento is nothing short of impressive thanks to these features: six airbags, vehicle stability management (VSM), ESC, ABS and hill-start assist control (HAC) and Emergency Stop signal.
The new Kia Sorento is offered in three colors (Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl and Silky Silver), while the new Sportage takes on four color choices (Mercury Blue, Fiery Red, Snow White Pearl and Mineral Silver).
