allcarschannel From the 2014 CES, we switch to the upcoming NAIAS (North American International Auto Show), which is on the cards from 13 – 26 January in Detroit.

Detroit has hosted an auto show for over a century. For the first several decades of its existence, however, the show’s focus was strictly regional. From 1987 onwards, the regional auto show became an Internationally recognized auto show, hence forth known as the NAIAS. As the first auto show to start on an annual basis, the NAIAS provides plenty of premieres and what to look forward to throughout the year. This year, the NAIAS observes its 25th anniversary.

NAIAS 2013 saw overall spike in attendance and participation

Last year’s NAIAS was a true celebration of the automobile and a demonstration of the strength and resiliency of the auto business. Nowhere was that more clearly seen than on the show floor where manufacturers unveiled over 60 of their most spectacular new vehicles, showcasing them before a global audience comprising the world’s media and the car-buying public. Industry Preview saw more attendees, Charity preview raised 30 percent more than the 2012 event and total ticketed attendance was the highest since 2004. NAIAS 2013 was a two-week celebration of cars, technology and industry confidence.

Kia to premiere the Stinger GT4 at NAIAS

Korean marque Kia is presenting its new Stinger GT4 for the 2014 NAIAS and American faithfuls. The Kia Stinger has the latest iteration in the form of a very low signature grille, LED headlights with white glows and the typical Kia unique design interpretation. Front-brake cooling vents funnel air around custom 20-inch wheels, while a carbon fiber front splitter mounted below the bumper provides added downforce. The front-end arrangement is purposeful to keep the GT4 Stinger’s front tyres firmly planted to the road or tarmac.

Under the hood, the Kia Stinger GT4 houses a turbocharged 2.0-liter that pumps 315 horsepower to the rear wheels. More to be revealed closer to the NAIAS show from 13 – 26 January.
