There are up to 11 exterior colors and 6 interior colors/trims, depending on variant, to choose from for this flagship model. In looks, the the dramatic and bold look is fronted by a unique mesh grille that uses the signature spindle design, along with the ultra-compact 3-beam headlights flank with Bi-LED beams, as well as the turn signals.

The car’s GA-L platform’s low center of gravity places the sleek silhouette lower and gives the impression of hugging the ground, pursuing aggressive appeal. Additionally, the axes of the powerfully flared front and rear fenders are slanted forwards, creating a dynamic impression that evokes driving performance. From the rear, the LS 500 is highlighted by the full LED combination cluster and a generally sleek behind.

In dimensions, the LS has gained 28 mm in overall length with a body length that is now 3.125 meters. The wheelbase has also been stretched by 35 mm, giving the model a generous space between the wheels that is comparable to a long-wheelbase limousine. The overall width has been increased to 1.9m, 25 mm more than before while the roofline has been lowered by 15 mm.

Inside, lighting and attention to detail express a unique aesthetic in the LS. Inspired by Shimamoku wood patterns, the new forms combine the artistic combination of natural woodwork and application of Japan’s sophisticated sliced wood and laser cutting manufacturing technologies. Additionally, new seating designs include front seats that are power-adjustable up to 28 ways and 22 ways for the rear seats. Combining electric motors with a new pneumatic control system allows fine adjustment of the entire seat with minimal weight and bulk while heating and massage are included. A Warming Function (spot heater) in the rear seat is a world first. Two dedicated heaters—located in the shoulder and lower back areas of the seat—warm these specific areas without warming a person’s entire body.

Further highlights of the interior of the LS 500 entail hand-pleated upholstery with 3-D effect, Kiriko Glass ornamentation, next-generation Remote Touch Interface, 12.3-inch wide navigation display, a 24-inch colour heads-up display (largest in the world), Ottoman sear (LS Executive), and the famed Mark Levinson QLI Reference Surround Sound System with Quantum Logic Immersion technology, Clari-Fi music restoration technology and 23 speakers, located in 16 locations throughout the car.

Lexus LS 500: Engine options

The Lexus LS range carries a new 3.5-liter V6 engine that churns 310 kW/415 hp with 600 Nm of torque, significantly higher than the previous naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 engine. The engine is paired to the first-ever 10-speed automatic transmission, which first appeared in the LC 500. The LS 500 range incorporates an auto torque converter, claimed to be quicker than dual-clutch transmissions. Meantime, the wide bandwidth afforded by 10 closely-spaced ratios is ideal for all driving situations.

Lexus LS 500: A refined Road hugger

The new LS is lower than previous generation, thanks to the incorporated air suspension system. Activated by unlocking the car with the smart key, access mode automatically raises the car by 30 mm and widens the seat bolsters to welcome drivers behind the wheel. To ensure comfort at all times, the Lexus Climate Concierge, using infrared sensors, conducts integrated control of heating and cooling by detecting the body temperatures of each occupant.

In order to create a sweet serenade and keep the cabin refined, the exhaust sound has been tuned to convey a more authoritative tone but within the cabin, there is quietness that will be hard to believe. New sound suppression methods have lowered exterior noise far more significantly than all previous LS models. With Active Noise Control, noise levels within the cabin are lowered by detecting the sound of the engine coming into the vehicle and cancelling certain frequencies using antiphase sound from the audio speakers.

The latest LS line-up comprises the Lexus Safety System+; a suite made up of Pre-Collision system (PCS), Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive High-Beam System and Lane Keep Assist.
