|Lexus Malaysia today brought forth the new ES variant, the new premium compact sedan with attractive pricings. The ES, Lexus’ newest variant, sits between the existing IS and GS variants.|
Currently in its 6th generation, the Lexus ES is the marque’s best-selling variant around the globe, and is expected to continue to be a popular variant. Incorporating Lexus’ “Neo Luxury & Neo Smart”, the new ES is presented with a luxury sentiment, whilst taking into consideration advanced environmental factors and fuel efficient technologies.
On the exterior, the new ES has all the Lexus signature elements; from the recognizable spindle grille with daytime running lights to 17-inch multi-spoke wheels.
Lexus Malaysia is the first in this region to offer the right hand drive version of the new ES, and the premium compact is available in three variants: the ES250, ES250 Luxury and the ES300h. The ES250 and ES250 Luxury are powered by a smooth 2.5-liter 4C 16V DOHC engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, that churns 181hp and 235Nm of torque. The top-of-the-line ES300h, a hybrid version, has two electric motors, and when combined with the petrol engine, the car powers up to 158bhp and 213Nm of torque.
Inside, the ES250 is rather comparative to the IS and GS variants with the crafted interior, exquisite leather seats, adequate spaciousness and class-leading leg room at the rear. Other amenities include ventilated front seats and a rear armrest controller which allows back seat passengers to select desired air-conditioning temperature and control the audio system. For the hybrid ES, the interior has been painstakingly built to the highest degree of perfection just like the non-hybrid variants; the audio system which is a crisp sounding 15-speaker, 12-channel Mark Levinson system provides a concert hall ambience for unrivalled listening pleasure.
Lexus Malaysia plans to distribute approximately 100 units of the new ES by the end of the year, and over 600 units by the end of the following year; which makes up about 40% of Lexus M’sia’s entire repertoire. In line with the marque’s expansion plans, there will be three more dealerships in Kuching, Ipoh and Malacca by first quarter of next year.
The new Lexus ES is set to be a core model, and is priced at RM259, 800 for the ES250, RM279,800 for the ES250 Luxury, and RM353,000 for the range-topping Lexus ES300h. The price lists include a 3-year warranty and a year’s complimentary road tax with insurance; for the first 200 buyers.
