Locally-assembled Kia Grand Carnival MPV now available

For 2018, Naza Kia Malaysia has introduced the locally-assembled Grand Carnival MPV, now available with two variants (EX and  KX) for RM 180,868 and RM  161,392 (OTR with insurance).  Previously, the company brought forth the imported unit in March 2017, which retailed for almost a similar price.

New stuff for the Grand Carnival CKD model include an upgraded 8-inch Touch Screen Infotainment System, Bluetooth connectivity with steering control and an Electro Chromic Rear View Mirror. With auto dimming the rear view mirror dims in proportion to the intensity which allows the driver to have a clearer view at all times without having to manually adjust the mirror when driving at night. Other specification enhancements include Aeroblade wipers as well as Tri-Zone Air conditioners in the KX variant.

Pertaining to standard exterior and interior offerings, the CKD model is similar to the imported Grand Carnival.  In looks. there’s a recognizable bold face, a wide, upright ‘tiger nose’ grille with wrap-around headlights (LED with DRLs), and framed fog lights. From the rear, the Carnival MPV has wide rear lights and metal surfaces and double sliding-doors.

Inside, the Kia Grand Carnival MPV takes up a wide dashboard, a airplane-styled cabin, leather seats, overhead consoles, all around a/c vents and a huge boot. The third row seats when folded down offer even more boot space, while the second row offers space for third row occupants. A rear sunscreen blind is standard, as well. For multimedia, an audio unit with six speakers come standard, along with a 4.3 inch TFT LCD color display touchscreen and a rear view camera.

Engine option for the Grand Carnival EX and KX is a 2.2D engine, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The output is 142 horsepower, a tad lower than the CBU model, with 440 Nm of torque.

The Grand Carnival maintains from its predecessor the MacPherson front suspension and the multi-link rear suspension. With the hydraulic rebound spring, stiffer suspension bars and cross-member bush mountings, it improves its bump absorption thus enhancing a more comfortable ride.
