Fresh from the recent My AutoFest, MAI (Malaysia Automotive Institute) is again promoting another Auto show; this time it is the Malaysia Auto Show. The Malaysia Auto Show is a platform for EEVs (Energy Efficient Vehicles). Since 2014, the National Automotive Policy 2014 (NAP 2014) redirected the Malaysian automotive industry, taking the nation into the modern era of Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs).
By 2020, it is projected that some 85% of vehicles produced in the country will be energy efficient vehicles (EEVs), making Malaysia the regional hub for EEVs in Asean.
In line with this, MAI, as the sole organizer of the Malaysia Autoshow 2016, will set up a special booth at the Autoshow to share its vision as well as create awareness to help turn the country into a regional base for Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) production. Influenced by the Asian theme, the show will host many exhibitors from the region as well as local distributors and manufacturers, and is expected to attract 100,000 visitors.
“This year MAI aims to make the Malaysia Autoshow an even more immersive event, as it spearheads the showcase of future trends in the auto industry, especially among the latest energy efficient vehicles (EEVs) which also include hybrid and diesel powered vehicles,” Madani Sahari, CEO of Malaysia Automotive Institute, said. “Numerous OEMs have undertaken EEV programs within their production facilities in Malaysia, and to date, more than 180 models and variants have been certified as EEVs.”
The ASEAN Autoshow that started in 2015, is one of MAI’s flagship events. This year’s edition will be renamed as The Malaysia Autoshow 2016 and will be held from 10 – 13 November at the MINES International Exhibition and Convention Center (MIECC); the same venue where the previous My AutoFest was held.
The Malaysia Autoshow 2016 is set to become the biggest composite annual automotive show in Malaysia with manufacturers and distributors of cars, bikes, trucks as well as aftermarket dealers exhibiting their products. More than 150 exhibitors from renowned vehicle brands, aftermarket and accessory products will lay out their extensive product range during the event.
The Autoshow has also been an enabler of car sales, matching car buyers with car brands and their models that span a broad spectrum of budgets, and where show visitors also get to view all the newly launched cars for the year, under one roof. Car companies have lined up special deals only available at the show.
