|Things are stirring up at the Putra World Trade Center, home of the 2013 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show from 15 till 24 November. The KLIMS (Kuala Lumpur International Motor show) happens every three years in the country and is touted as an Automotive exhibition not to be missed!|
We round up several participating marques’ previews and showcase attractions for the KLIMS ’13. UMW Toyota Motor is certainly all poised to make head turns at KLIMS with its five Toyota variants (including two Concepts: NS4 Plug-in Hybrid and Fun-Vii) and four Lexus variants (plus, an F Sport Roadbike).
UMW Toyota Motor breaks out Lexus LF-A, Concepts and more at KLIMS 13
The major Toyota highlights for KLIMS include the recently introduced variants like the Toyota Vios (TRD Sportivo version), the Camry Hybrid, and for the first time the Toyota Previa (linked to the Estima). At the Lexus corner, the desirable Lexus variants include the superlative LFA with its V10 powerplant and CFRP package, and the production Lexus LS 460L, IS 250 F Sport and ES 250 Luxury. This time around, UMW Toyota Motor has decided to add an F-Sport Roadbike for good measures. The F-Sport Roadbike carries some elements of the LFA Supercar from the CFRP body frame to the 22-speed shifting electric control system.
The NS4 Plug-in Hybrid incorporates futuristic safety features such as the Pre-collision system (PCS) and Collision-avoidance assist. This in-between Conventional and Electric vehicle has a forward-looking design that connects technology with people. The Fun-Vii concept, on the other hand, is a concept vehicle that takes on an Augmented Reality (AR) navigation system with Wireless capability and allows a change of body color with a compatible smartphone.
Over at Nissan, the main highlights are the all-electric Nissan LEAF and the Almera NISMO performance package, The LEAF is the best-selling electric car in the world, with 83,000 units sold and counting. At the same time, the upbeat Almera Nismo is introduced for the first time in the country. Previously, ETCM (Edaran Tan Chong Motor) showcased the Almera Impul version at the Super GT Malaysian round in Sepang in June.
Honda is introducing the all-new Odyssey at KLIMS, as well as showcasing some interesting variants just for domestic auto buffs. The new Odyssey into its fifth generation has just been released in Honda’s home country.
Volkswagen and Infiniti: Premium makers with a purpose at KLIMS 13
One of the largest brand booths of KLIMS, German Automotive giants Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) is promoting its recently introduced Polo Sedan 1.6. Additionally, the specially flown in Beetle Fender edition has a place amongst the other desirable Volkswagen variants, along with a unique ‘cut out’of the VW Golf displaying German engineering and innovation.
Premium marque Infiniti is participating in its very first KLIMS with these variants: Infiniti Q50, Q70, QX70 and the Red Bull Racing (RB9) Formula One Race Car. Infiniti’s Q range is designated for sedans and coupes, whereas the QX is reserved for crossovers and SUVs. Furthermore, each variant is identified by a double digit which represents the hierarchy within the range.
