2015 Mazda CX-3 goes on sale in Japan_2 Mazda Motor Corporation has officially announced the start of sales of the new Mazda CX-3 compact crossover SUV in its home country. The CX-3 is offered three versions in Japan; the CX-3 XD, CX-3 XD Touring and XD Touring L Package.

The new CX-3 is the fifth model in Mazda’s line-up of new-generation vehicles featuring the full range of SKYACTIV Technology and KODO-Soul of Motion design. It combines a high-quality, stylish design; dimensions and clever packaging that make it easy to use in any situation; and performance that makes driving genuinely fun.

In Japan, the new CX-3 is equipped exclusively with the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-liter clean diesel engine. This combines outstanding fuel economy (25 km/L under the JC08 test mode) with exciting driving performance thanks to impressive torque up to 270 Nm, surpassing that of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine. All versions are available with either SKYACTIV-D (Automatic) or SKYACTIV-MT (Manual), and Mazda’s new-generation all-wheel drive system, i-ACTIV AWD.

For the SKYACTIV-D 1.5, Mazda has developed the Natural Sound Smoother which reduces combustion noise known as “diesel knock sound”. The new CX-3 is the first vehicle in the world to adopt this technology which both refines the engine sound and makes the vehicle quieter when on the road. Furthermore, Mazda Connect and i-ACTIVSENSE advanced safety technologies are carried over to the CX-3 as well. Mazda Connect is the Hiroshima based marque’s new-generation car connectivity system. This system enables the driver to select available sources, including internet radio as well as vehicle information. Meanwhile, the i-ACTIVSENSE functions to aid the driver’s recognition, judgment and operation of the vehicle with the support of the on-board safety equipment.

The Mazda CX-3 XD, XD Touring and XD Touring L Package are priced from 2,376,000 to 3,024,000 yen. All version grades are exempt from vehicle weight tax and acquisition tax, regardless of drive-type or transmission, even qualifies for the Japanese government’s clean energy vehicle promotion subsidy program; which tabulates at 160,000 yen and up to 2,808,000 yen for the XD Touring L package 2WD. Mazda expects to deliver some 3,000 CX-3s per month in Japan.
