Mazda CX-8 three-row crossover SUV

The Mazda CX-8 is the flagship model of Mazda’s SUV lineup in Japan, replacing the magnificent CX-9. The three-row crossover SUV offers a new alternative for customers who don’t want to compromise on driving performance or styling in a multi-passenger vehicle.

Since the car’s last December launch in Japan, orders have exceeded 20,000 units in the land of the Rising Sun. The model is especially popular with customers in their 30s and 40s. Large SUVs are in great demand in China, the world’s biggest market for automobiles, and exhibiting the CX-8 there will allow Mazda to introduce the car to customers in China and other countries, including Malaysia.

Mazda CX-8 overview

The Mazda CX-8, which premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017, is a three-row crossover SUV with a dependable SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel.

In dimensions, the CX-8 has an overall length of 4,900 mm, width of 1,840 mm and height of 1,730 mm. The Mazda CX-8 which went on sale in Japan is offered in seven body colors.

Inside, the cabin is presented in a state of ‘Premium-ness’ comprising specially selected Nappa leather upholstery, real wood trims, meters and control switches laid out symmetrically and decorative trims. For Japan, four interior packages are available, two featuring genuine leather and two featuring fabric. With the XD L package, the upper section of the interior is black and the lower section matches the color of the seats. Depending on model grade, the CX-8 comes in two different types of captain’s chair seats (6-passenger layout) or a bench seat (7-passenger layout) for the second row.

The CX-8 is powered by the SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter clean diesel engine, paired to a SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission to offer an output from 129 to 140 kilowatts and maximum torque from 420 to 450 Newton meters.
