Mazda MX-5 RF set for debut on 27 April at RM245,000 OTR

The Mazda MX-5 RF has landed on domestic shores and is scheduled for official unveiling on 27 April. The anticipated MX-5 RF is a follow up to the successful fourth-generation MX-5 soft top version, which was introduced by Mazda Malaysia (Bermaz Motor) way back in December 2015.

The 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF will be available with manual or auto transmission at an on-the-road price of RM 245,000. Due to the limited production, there will be a waiting period of up to six months for interested customers. Mazda Malaysia will also announce special introductory price for Mazda MX-5 RF during the official launch.

More recently, the Mazda Mx-5 RF picked up the 2017 Red Dot Design award. The Red Dot Product Design award is yet another feather in the cap for Mazda and its KODO – Soul of Motion styling. The unique two-seater retractable fastback thereby duplicates the success of its fourth-generation MX-5 soft-top sibling, which took away the same award in 2015.

The MX-5 RF features a smooth roofline that curves down to the rear end, and its unique rear roof and retractable back window offer a new open-air feeling. The roof opens and closes in a beautifully choreographed sequence and requires only the flip of a switch. Stowing the roof efficiently in the limited space available enables the Roadster RF to offer almost the same trunk space as the soft-top variant.

To accentuate the exterior, the RF’s body-colored roof further illustrates the beauty of the roof line. Furthermore, 17-inch, 8-spoke chrome-finished aluminum wheels, painted in piano black, give the MX-5 RF an expressive stance. Body colors will be made clear following the official launch of the MX-5 RF.

Moving into the interior, the Roadster’s cabin space conveys a sense of quality. The MX-5 RF takes up high-quality Nappa leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering, BOSE audio system and a 127-liter boot space; just to name a few.

The Roadster RF is powered by the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine. With greater displacement than the engine in the soft-top version, it realizes a refined driving performance that matches the model’s core value: ‘Jibba Ittai’. Depending on the grade of the MX-5 RF available in the country, highlights to ensure more driving fun include optional bucket seats and Brembo brakes. Standard brakes comprise the 15-inch ventilated front disc, plus 15-inch solid rear disc.

Last but not least, the MX-5 RF takes up the soft-top’s double-wishbone and multilink suspension, in the front and rear respectively.

To view the Mazda MX-5 Rf, drop by selected Mazda Malaysia showrooms in the Klang Valley and get up, close and personal with the one and only Mazda MX-5 RF.
