|The Mazda MX-5, the world’s best-selling roadster, is out to set another record; not just any other record but the Guinness World Record come 15 June in Lelystad, the Netherlands.|
With almost a million cars sold, Mazda’s popular Roadster is into its 24th year and still going strong. It has also given rise to many celebrations along the way, when the 500,000th, 700,000th and 900,000th unit rolled off the assembly line, for example, and on the MX-5’s 20th birthday. It looks like it’s gonna keep at it!
The 2013 IMAX-5 by Mazda at Lelystad will see Mazda MX-5 owners from the continent try to break the existing largest parade of 459 MX-5s at Essen in Deutschland three years ago. The target for the 2013 IMAX-5 is 800 Mazda MX-5s, and the cars will run at the RDW Test Centrum in Lelystad, along the 15 kilometers route of the Dutch City landscape.
In addition, there will be a variety of activities offered at the event grounds after the gates open, from opportunities to test drive Mazda’s new SKYACTIV variants such as Mazda6, Mazda CX-5, Mazda3 and Mazda 2 to trying their hands on different race simulators.
Being the biggest-ever Mazda MX-5 event, there will be special displays of some of the very best Mazda MX-5s on the planet. Other activities include free inspections, and track demonstrations of the Ribank Mazda MaX5 Cup racers and Van Herck Racing’s three-rotor-engined Mazda3 20B. The climax of the IMAX-5 event for the participants will be watching a feature film at Europe’s largest drive-in cinema.
Mazda MX-5 owners who are interested to partake in the 2013 IMAX-5 in Lelystad, should check out www.imax-5.nl. Cost of entry is only 30 Euros per car.
