Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Combines Coupe prowess with SUV functionality

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is the Three-point star’s next generation of SUV as it combines the sportiness of a coupé with the functionality of an SUV. The GLC Coupe is part of the GLC line-up, which include four other major Mercedes SUV line-ups, including the GLA, GLE, GLS and G-Class.

The GLC Coupe’s front end is more aggressive aided by contoured radiator grille, air intakes, LED headlights and  chrome details on the underride guards (front and rear). Its coupé character shines through in the squat silhouette with the dropping roof line and rounded rear window.

Profile of the GLC Coupe is accentuated by the dropping roof line, chrome strip on the high beltline, broad shoulders and rearwards-ascending light-catching contour. And of course, the high ground clearance.

GLC Coupe interior appointments

When it comes to the interior, you can bet that the Mercedes GLC Coupe is decked with a premium cabin and user-friendly controls. The focus is on the dashboard and flowing lines of the center console. The interior takes a new magma grey scheme. Pertinent highlights include the familiar air vents, one-piece console panel, armrest, multifunction steering in two options, and the multifunctional touchpad, which replaces the previous rotary pushbutton.

The car’s infotainment system has larger touchscreen displays with 12.3 inches in the instrument cluster plus 7 inches with 960 x 540 pixels and 10.25 inches with 1920 x 720 pixels in the central display. In addition to this, the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system boasts intuitive logic and a wide range of control options. To add more convenience, Mercedes adds an Energizing comfort control that combines various in-vehicle systems to create an optimum environment. This integrates lighting and music moods, climate control, suitable music and video selections as well as a massage function, heating and ventilation for the seats.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe comes in several petrol and diesel  options, with further engines to be added to the line-up during the course of the year. The existing engine options have an output range from 197 hp (GLC 200) to 245hp (GLC 300d) and torque from 320 Nm to 500 Nm.

Driving dynamics of GLC Coupe depends on the standard sports suspension with adaptive damping, as well as Dynamic Body Control with adjustable dampers. Depending on the driving situation, speed and condition of the road, the damping is controlled individually for each wheel in interaction with the engine, transmission and steering characteristics. For option, AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension is also available.
