20101115120821784  For most of us, Michelin is synonymous with premium tyres for every type of vehicle. Now, consumers can experience the same quality and innovation associated with Michelin tyres, with the Michelin automotive accessories range.

The Michelin range currently comprises 23 products in six different categories namely; wiper blades, foot pumps, car mats, tyre inflators, digital tyre gauges and air fresheners.

Michelin Malaysia Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Yves Pouliquen said each product was designed to bring something unique to consumers either through its concept, design or specification and to convey the French tyre makers’ renowned brand values, namely quality, safety and performance.

“Years of experience in tyre technology have given us an understanding of what consumers need, especially when it comes to the automotive industry. That is why we have decided to introduce the Michelin range of automotive accessories to suit consumers’ automotive needs,” said Mr Pouliquen.

“Internationally, Michelin automotive accessories were first introduced in 2001 and have been awarded a total of 47 awards and accolades, including two of the products which won the prestigious “Produit de l’Année (Product of the Year)” award in France twice. Additionally, many consumer magazines have also rated MICHELIN automotive accessories with either 5 stars, or as “best-buy” within their categories,” said Mr Pouliquen.

The Michelin automotive accessories range is part of a wider collection of lifestyle-related products developed under licence and managed through Michelin Lifestyle Limited (MLL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Michelin Group.

The Michelin Lifestyle business operates through a licensing model. This entails working closely withlicensees, selected for their product andmarket knowledge and expertise, to develop and market Michelin branded products under licence. To date, Michelin Lifestyle has around 75 licensing partners worldwide.

In 2009, the MLL business sold 12.7 million units in 85 countries, through 30,000 outlets generating sales of 200 million Euros. In 2010, Michelin was ranked 63rd in the top 125 global licensors (according to Licence magazine).

In Malaysia, the Michelin automotive accessories range is distributed by Golden Alliance Lifestyle (SEA) Pte Ltd (GAL). GAL also manages the range in Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore,Thailand (Licensee is TABA ) and Vietnam.

Among some of the products being introduced under the Michelin automotive accessories range is the Electric Tyre Inflator, a portable tyre pump that can fully inflate a flat tyre in four minutes. The Electric Tyre Inflator (above right) is ideal for sports equipment, inflated boats, bicycles, motorcycles and cars. In addition, there are Digital Tyre gauge which indicates if a tyre is overinflated or underinflated and is also ideal for bicycles, motorcycles and cars.

Michelin automotive accessories are now exclusively available at all dealers across the country. The automotive accessories are priced from RM 16.50 to RM 200.00.
