2016 Mtisubishi Outlander SUV The anticipated all-new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV has made its domestic debut, courtesy of a preview event by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM). The official launch for the new Mitsubishi Outlander, however, has been scheduled for April. With the preview, MMM and its wide dealership network have made bookings for the new Outlander available, from today.

In looks, the new Mitsubishi Outlander takes up the ‘Dynamic Shield’ front; a design concept in which the dynamic face expresses powerful performance and reassuring sense of protection shared by generations of Mitsubishi vehicles. The LED headlights and unique DRLs make the new Outlander one-of-a-kind as far as SUV goes.

The Outlander SUV other premium features come in the form of the 18-inch Dual-Tone Alloy wheels which compliments the SUV’s appeal. Profile-wise, the new Outlander incorporates a low-sloping roof with customary roof railings, as well as chrome-accented elements on the bottom of the doors to express a form of ruggedness.

Moving into the cabin, the Outlander SUV comes with versatile 7-seater leather Seats, along with Auto Light and Rain Sensor functions. Besides, the Outlander has Best-in-class features including a spacious cargo which can fit up to 4 golf bags or a single-bed mattress (1,608-liter) and a turning radius of 5.3 meters.

Available only in 4WD, the Complete Built-Up (CBU) Outlander from Japan is powered by a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) engine boasting a maximum output of 167 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 222Nm at 4,100 rpm.

The 4WD system fitted on the Outlander SUV consists of the multi-select type, available with three modes: 4WD ECO, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock. The 4WD ECO emphasizes on fuel economy where torque is distributed to the front wheels during normal driving conditions and automatically splits to all wheels for better traction and stability during slippery road conditions. This enables the Outlander SUV to deliver one of the best-in-class fuel efficiency of 12.8km/l (MMM’s internal data). On the other hand, the 4WD Auto automatically distributes the right amount of torque to all wheels to provide smoother cornering performance and maintains high speed stability while 4WD Lock permanently feeds torque to all wheels during a hill climb, muddy trails or rough roads.

Like other Mitsubishi models, safety is a top priority. Standard safety features offered in the Outlander SUV include 7-Airbags, Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Anti-lock braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE body) and Collapsible Steering Column.

The Outlander SUV is offered in three colors: Red Metallic, White Pearl and Grey Metallic. An introductory price of RM 166,720.00 OTR is applicable for the new Mitsubishi Outlander, prior to 31 May. Also attached with the price is a warranty of five years or 100,000km.
